Several major UAE banks have begun notifying customers that they will stop using one-time passwords (OTPs) starting tomorrow, switching to app-based authentication to approve online card purchases and other electronic transactions, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gulfnews.com\/business\/banking\/uae-banks-to-end-sms-otps-for-online-card-payments-from-january-6-1.500396452\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Gulf News<\/a> reports. This follows the first phase of the ban, which started in 2024, and targeted single-use plastic bags, as well as polystyrene cups, plates and containers, stirrers, cotton buds, table covers and straws. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <a id=\"wwtt4\"><\/a> <strong>REGULATION <\/strong><strong>\u2014<\/strong> <b>Higher minimum wage for nationals in private sector: <\/b>The Human Resources and Emiratization Ministry will raise the minimum wage for Emiratis in the private sector to AED 6k per month, with the decision taking effect on 1 January 2026, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mohre.gov.ae\/en\/media-center\/news\/31\/12\/2025\/mohre-raises-minimum-wage-for-emiratis-in-the-private-sector-to-aed-6000-per-month-effective-1\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. Trump issued a warning to Venezuela\u2019s current de facto leader, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, of a \u201cbig price\u201d to pay if she does not comply with the conditions the US has set in order for the country to avoid any further attacks by the US.
