Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia are now pushing port upgrades to handle bigger vessels and rising cargo volumes, positioning Laem Chabang\u2019s next phase \u2014 and DP World\u2019s renewed berth position \u2014 within a wider regional upgrade cycle. Laem Chabang\u2019s next phase is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eeco.or.th\/en\/laem-chabang-port-phase-3\/\">designed<\/a> to increase the port\u2019s container capacity to 18 mn TEUs annually from 11 mn TEUs. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>The Laem Chabang extension fits a wider DP World push across Southeast Asian<\/strong> <strong>gateways.<\/strong> In Indonesia, the port operator is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dpworld.com\/en\/news\/dp-world-signs-deal-to-double-capacity-at-indonesias-belawan-new-container-terminal\">expanding<\/a> Belawan New Container Terminal to 1.4 mn TEUs and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dpworld.com\/en\/news\/dp-world-breaks-ground-on-new-container-terminal-in-east-java\">building<\/a> a new 3 mn TEU terminal with Maspion Group in East Java, alongside an industrial and logistics park. While both countries had started pumping gas to Lebanon and Syria <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/2026\/01\/13\/egyptian-regasified-natural-gas-starts-heading-to-lebanon-and-syria\/\">back in January<\/a>, the aging Lebanese domestic network has slowed down distribution. Deploying TGS to modernize these lines ensures the local infrastructure can handle the flows needed to stabilize the country\u2019s energy supply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>Formalizing what we already know:<\/strong> This comes after Lebanon signed an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/asharqbusiness.com\/power\/131306\/%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%82-%D8%AB%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AB%D9%8A-%D8%A8%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%B1%D8%AF%D9%86-%D9%88%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%88%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A7-%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%BA%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B7%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%B9%D9%8A\/\">agreement<\/a> with Syria and Jordan to pool natural gas resources last week. The agreement adds to a broad energy collaboration framework emerging between Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt. Under this arrangement, Jordan and Egypt receive and regasify LNG shipments using their co-rented floating storage and regasification unit \u2014 the Energos Force, currently docked at Jordan\u2019s Aqaba Port \u2014 before pushing the natural gas north through to Syria and Lebanon via the Arab Gas Pipeline. Israeli gas heading to Jordanian and Egyptian markets could also be part of the mix flowing to Syria and Lebanon, our Logistics desk <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/01\/13\/syria-ramps-up-natural-gas-inflows-with-jordan-routed-supply\/\">previously reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>MEANWHILE- Jordan secures back-up regasification capacity: <\/strong>Jordan\u2019s National Electric Power Company <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/org.petra.gov.jo\/Include\/InnerPage.jsp?ID=84292&amp;lang=en&amp;name=en_news\">signed<\/a> an agreement with the US LNG infrastructure firm Excelerate Energy to lease a floating storage and regasification unit for the Sheikh Sabah LNG Terminal in Aqaba. The agreement comes before the Energos Force rental expires at the end of next month. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;text-align:left\"><strong>The leased unit is meant to keep Aqaba running until Jordan completes its planned <\/strong><strong>onshore regasification unit<\/strong>, which is designed to improve the efficiency and reliability of the country\u2019s gas import
