Good morning, friends. <\/strong>We close the week with a simple question in mind: What the hell is Oman doing? <\/p>\n

Iran may have just taken a big step toward claiming Hormuz as the toll-generating <\/strong>equivalent of the Suez Canal. <\/strong>A top Iranian diplomat says Oman and Tehran are \u201cdrafting a protocol for Iran and Oman to supervise transit in the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d<\/a> The agreement will \u201cfacilitate and ensure safe passage and provide better services to ships that pass through this route,\u201d deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi says. <\/p>\n

Oman has been quiet about what it\u2019s up to, but three Omani ships appear to have passed <\/strong>through Hormuz late yesterday<\/strong> \u2014 Bloomberg<\/a> says they were two oil tankers and an LNG carrier. Reuters<\/a> separately reported that Oman had mysteriously delivered its first LNG shipment to Germany\u2019s state-owned SEFE<\/a>, which said only that the shipment was \u201cunaffected\u201d by the war. There\u2019s only one way SEFE could have taken delivery: A vessel made it through Hormuz. <\/p>\n
