Indian<\/strong> automotive and farm-equipment manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra will invest USD 1.65 bn (INR 149.7 bn) over the next 10 years<\/strong> to expand manufacturing capacity in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, according to a press release<\/a>. Mahindra plans to build its largest integrated vehicle and tractor manufacturing facility, with production targeted to begin in 2028.<\/p>\n

The details:<\/strong> Once fully operational, the plant is expected to have a capacity of more than 500k vehicles a year and 100k tractors a year. The facility will also manufacture powertrains, support electric-vehicle production, and anchor a supplier ecosystem to serve the new site as well as Mahindra\u2019s existing factories.<\/p>\n

Why it matters:<\/strong> Mahindra maintains a significant presence in the MENA region, exporting its SUVs, pickup trucks, and commercial vehicles in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan. <\/p>\n
