By hardwiring vessels with very high-frequency electronic charts, this real-time system will enable safe, 24\/7 navigation for both commercial barges and tourist cruises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Our take:<\/strong> The Nile\u2019s transport capacity has long been ignored, but setting up an industrial base in Upper Egypt requires cheap, high-volume logistics. A single river barge can carry the equivalent of 40 land transport trucks, making the shift essential to slash supply chain overhead for businesses while reducing the government\u2019s road maintenance bill. The Egyptian government aims to reach 8 mn tons of river freight capacity this fiscal year, with a long-term goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt\/hardhats\/a-look-into-the-current-state-of-the-river-transport-sector\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">boosting<\/a> the riverway\u2019s share of cargo movements to 10% by 2038.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>REMEMBER<\/strong>- Egypt has been upping its efforts to utilize the river for <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2025\/08\/11\/today-egypt-to-double-its-import-of-israeli-gas-damascus-secures-developers-for-damascus-airport-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">efficient and greener<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2025\/08\/11\/today-egypt-to-double-its-import-of-israeli-gas-damascus-secures-developers-for-damascus-airport-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freight<\/a>. A single river vessel can replace around 40 trucks, helping to decongest the road network, slash the cost of road maintenance, and reduce emissions.
