Hormuz disruption left storage tanks full and cut output at Iraq\u2019s main southern oilfields <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/04\/02\/today-where-to-rest-and-bunker\/\" style=\"\">by about 80%<\/a> to around 800k bbl \/ d \u2014 turning overland trucking into a stopgap to keep exports moving. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> CARGO \u2014 Morocco\u2019s Tanger Med is pulling more war-disrupted cargo flows: <\/strong>Russian metals producer Nornickel <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/nornickel-says-higher-prices-offset-increased-costs-delivery-times-iran-war-2026-04-17\/\" style=\"\">diverting<\/a> cargoes around Africa and increasingly routing shipments via Tangier before onward delivery to Europe. The shift has added roughly three weeks to transit times and raised freight costs, reflecting the growing strain on traditional routes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Dima Maghrib:<\/strong> The Moroccan port is already <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/03\/31\/today-red-sea-back-in-focus-as-houthis-threaten-disruptions\/\" style=\"\">expecting a potential rise in ship calls<\/a> as giant carriers including Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, and CMA CGM are already rerouting around Africa to avoid the Suez Canal and wider Middle East disruption. The port handled 11.1 mn containers in 2025 and is connected to more than 180 ports, giving it the scale to absorb at least part of the spillover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <\/strong><strong>SHIPPING<\/strong><strong> \u2014 India has <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/litigation\/india-expands-russian-marine-insurance-options-2026-04-20\/\" style=\"\">expanded<\/a><\/strong><strong> the number of Russian ins. firms <\/strong><strong>eligible to <\/strong><strong>provide marine cover for ships docking at its ports to 11 from eight.<\/strong> The move comes as India leans on Russian crude under a temporary US waiver, with the US-Israeli war on Iran effectively shutting Hormuz. Dubai-based Islamic P&I Club was also approved until 19 February 2027. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Market watch<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Oil<\/strong><strong> prices held steady this morning after an early USD 1 rise as investors weighed <\/strong><strong>US-Iran peace prospects after a ceasefire extension<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/us-oil-prices-rise-us-iran-peace-talks-remain-uncertain-2026-04-21\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports. Brent crude futures rose USD 0.03 to trade at USD 98.51 \/ bbl by 04.38 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was down USD 0.13 to USD 89.53 \/ bbl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia\u2019s Yanbu crude loadings dropped to 3.5 mn bbl \/ d last week<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/ar\/business\/IWG4XQ2WMZJEDFXDURWMDSZ6GQ-2026-04-20\/\" style=\"\">down<\/a> 17% w-o-w and the lowest since mid-March. The decline is a sharp pullback from the early-April run rate of 4.2 mn bbl \/ d \u2014 brushing up against a 4.3 mn bbl \/ d record set in late-March. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Yanbu matters<\/strong> \u2014 because it has effectively become the Kingdom\u2019s export valve while flows through Hormuz remain constrained. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The caveat: <\/strong>Kpler points to a shift away from VLCC-heavy loadings toward Aframax and Suezmax cargoes in the 13 April week \u2014 a smaller average cargo size translated directly into lower headline throughput. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Infrastructure isn\u2019t the constraint \u2014 at least on paper<\/strong> \u2014 with Riyadh saying the East-West pipeline is back at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/04\/14\/today-can-a-port-blockade-squeeze-iran-without-closing-hormuz\/\" style=\"\">7 mn bbl \/ d<\/a> after repairs from being hit. But the port hasn\u2019t sustained throughput above its 5 mn bbl \/ d nameplate capacity. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The Baltic Index maintains its rising trajectory: <\/strong>The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/baltic\" style=\"\">rose 0.3%<\/a> to 2,640 points on Tuesday. The capesize held steady at 4,300 points, while the panamax index fell 0.2% to 1,973.
