However, data from shipping analytics firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/more-than-20-vessels-pass-strait-hormuz-saturday-kpler-data-shows-2026-04-20\/\" style=\"\">Kpler<\/a> showed that 20 vessels transited Hormuz on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Yes<\/strong><strong> \u2014 some crude made it out, but access is increasingly conditional<\/strong>, as Gulf exporters are forced to either pay or find alternative routes as Iran uses control of Hormuz to extract coordination \u2014 and at times, fees. But it\u2019s safety concerns, not ins. availability, driving the drop in vessel traffic. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>  <\/strong><strong>ENERGY<\/strong><strong> \u2014<\/strong> <strong>It will take \u201capproximately two years\u201d for the Middle East\u2019s energy <\/strong><strong>output to return to pre-war levels<\/strong>, Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency, told Swiss newspaper <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nzz.ch\/wirtschaft\/iea-direktor-fatih-birol-der-markt-unterschaetzt-was-eine-anhaltende-sperrung-bedeuten-wuerde-ld.1934104\" style=\"\">Neue Zurcher Zeitung<\/a>. The timeline isn\u2019t uniform \u2014 Iraq could take longer, Saudi Arabia less. The aggregate picture is slow and uneven across the region. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>There\u2019s no consensus on recovery:<\/strong> Birol\u2019s two-year estimate sits in a widening range of projections, with recovery paths diverging based on assumptions around <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/04\/09\/can-the-gulf-just-snap-back-its-energy-game\/\" style=\"\">infrastructure damage<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/04\/15\/today-nigeria-morocco-pipeline-back-in-play-as-gas-demand-builds\/\" style=\"\">restart capacity<\/a>, and whether flows in Hormuz will totally normalize. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Shipments were already in transit before the conflict started, cushioning the initial shock <\/strong><strong>\u2014 but March saw no new tanker loadings<\/strong>, Birol said, noting that no fresh oil, gas, or fuel flows headed to Asia, and now that gap is starting to show up. If the strait stays shut, the market will be structurally undersupplied, with \u201csignificantly higher\u201d energy prices. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Waiting to pull the trigger:<\/strong> After deploying emergency reserves in March, Birol said another release is under consideration, with the agency ready to act \u201cimmediately and decisively.\u201d <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <\/strong><strong>AVIATION \u2014 <\/strong><strong>Iran<\/strong><strong> is gradually reopening its airspace under a four-stage <\/strong><strong>reopening <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/gulfnews.com\/world\/mena\/iran-outlines-four-stage-plan-to-reopen-airspace-after-regional-disruptions-1.500511910\" style=\"\">plan<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 after the state\u2019s Civil Aviation Organization said part of the airspace and some airports reopened on Saturday following security assessments. The phased approach will begin with transit flights, followed by the resumption of operations at eastern airports, then the major hubs in Tehran \u2014 including Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini airports \u2014 before expanding to western airports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What does this mean? <\/strong>\u201cThis looks like a premature signal from an unstable region rather than a meaningful return to normal operations,\u201d Sindy Foster, principal managing partner of Avaero Capital partners, tells EnterpriseAM. \u201cAirlines are unlikely to rush back simply because Iran says reopening will happen in stages,\u201d Foster says, especially with ticket sales suspended and the broader security picture still unsettled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Revenue play?<\/strong> \u201cI would not interpret this as the beginning of the end of regional airspace disruption, but better seen as a political and commercial signal,\u201d Foster argues, \u201cThat includes an attempt to restore overflight revenue, but not yet a convincing operational one until airlines, insurers, and regulators see stable conditions and a consistent security picture,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Market watch<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Oil<\/strong><strong> prices jumped 5% this morning on fears that the <\/strong><strong>US-Iran<\/strong><strong> truce may falter after a ship <\/strong><strong>seizure<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/oil-prices-rebound-7-strait-hormuz-is-closed-again-2026-04-19\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports. Brent crude futures increased USD 5.08 to trade at USD 95.46 \/ bbl by 04.18 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained USD 5.01 to USD 88.86 \/ bbl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The<\/strong><strong> Baltic Index keeps the rally going: <\/strong>The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/baltic\" style=\"\">rose<\/a> 1.7% to 2,567 points on Friday, its highest level since 8 December 2025. Rystad now sets the midpoint for total restoration costs at USD 46 bn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>A supply chain squeeze: <\/strong>The key constraint is not funding but access to equipment, contractors, and logistics, with recovery timelines already diverging by asset and country.
