Good morning, folks. <\/strong>The news cycle has slowed down a notch as we head into the weekend, leaving us with an issue led by big investment updates from Saudi and Egypt. PLUS: Data centers and industrial supply chain updates from Saudi and UAE. Shall we?<\/p>\n

BUT FIRST- <\/strong>Stranger Things fans assemble: <\/strong>Whether you want to watch yourself or you\u2019re forced to by your spawn: It\u2019s Stranger Things day. The first four episodes of what its producers are calling Volume 1 of the final season dropped on Netflix earlier this morning. Three more (Volume 2) drop on 25 December, and the finale will stream on 31 December. Each episode will be well north of an hour long.<\/p>\n

<\/a> #1- Egypt\u2019s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Company is in negotiations for a USD 400 mn loan to <\/strong>fund its <\/strong>USD 530 mn project<\/a><\/strong> to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)<\/strong>, Asharq Business<\/a> reports, citing unnamed government officials. The Oil Ministry-owned company is in discussions with local and international lenders, including the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, CIB, Afreximbank, and the EBRD, according to the outlet\u2019s sources.<\/p>\n

Background: <\/strong>The Oil Ministry launched the company in 2024 to develop production facilities and integrate them with other petroleum companies in Alexandria governorate. The project aims to produce 120k tons of SAF and reduce carbon emissions by 400k tons a year, after production kicks off. <\/p>\n

\n

\n

<\/a>#2- Aramco reportedly tapped Citigroup to advise on <\/strong>its potential multi-bn USD asset sale<\/strong>, following a pitching process that involved several Wall Street names, Bloomberg<\/a> reports, citing people it says are familiar with the matter. The state-owned oil giant was said to be mulling the sale of a range of its assets<\/a> including its oil export and storage terminals along with parts of its real estate portfolio, which could fetch over USD 10 bn in proceeds. The moves come as Aramco looks to free up capital amid softer oil prices and project delays.<\/p>\n

<\/a>#3- DAE hands over 737-9s to United: <\/strong>Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has delivered all 10 Boeing 737-9 jets to United Airlines under a sale-and-leaseback agreement inked back in July<\/a>, according to a statement<\/a>. The deliveries \u2014 completed in just six months from the order \u2014 bring DAE\u2019s portfolio of owned, under-management, or committed jets to a total of 750 carriers valued at USD 22 bn, including 236 Boeing jets. <\/p>\n

DAE has been working to upgrade its fleet: <\/strong>DAE is expanding its portfolio through a mix of firm acquisitions and purchases of used and new jets. The company finalized its full acquisition of Ireland-based Nordic Aviation Capital for an enterprise value of USD 2 bn earlier in May and has committed to acquiring a further 100 aircraft<\/a> from Airbus, Boeing, and ATR. In March, the aircraft-leasing company acquired 17 used aircraft for USD 1 bn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

#4- <\/strong>Singapore <\/strong>tops new port index by DNV, Menon Economics: <\/strong>Norwegian advisories DNV and Menon Economics<\/a> have launched a new port index \u2014 the Leading Container Ports of the World (LCP) report (pdf)<\/a> \u2014 which placed Singapore as the world\u2019s top port, according to a press release<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Who is leading in the region? <\/strong>Among the top 20 ports worldwide, only two regional ports made the cut: Dubai\u2019s Jebel Ali in the eighth spot and Morocco\u2019s Tanger Med in the 19th spot. <\/p>\n

The LCP report will directly compete with the established <\/strong>Container Port Performance<\/a><\/strong>Index (CPPI) (pdf)<\/a><\/strong> compiled by the World Bank and S&P Global<\/strong>, but there are key methodological differences. The LCP index adopts a holistic approach that includes subjective expert opinions \u2014 it compares 160 ports against 35 indicators organized into five equally weighted pillars: enablers, connectivity and customer value, productivity, sustainability, and overall impact. Meanwhile, the CPPI focuses mainly on port efficiency, taking into account quantitative data sourced from the Automatic Identification Systems and fuel consumption figures. <\/p>\n

#5- Are <\/strong>Airbus <\/strong>deliveries accelerating, or maybe, steadying? EasyJet says yes. <\/strong>A steady delivery of nine jets from Airbus in 2025 \u2014 plus a projected 17-jet delivery in 2026 \u2014 has put the low-cost carrier (LLC) on a trajectory to increase its capacity by 7% by the end of 2026, EasyJet\u2019s CEO Kenton Jarvis told Bloomberg<\/a>. \u201cWe haven\u2019t actually had a change in the delivery schedule\u2026 The production chain seems to be unlocking a bit,\u201d Jarvis said.<\/p>\n

This could be good news not just for EasyJet<\/strong>, as the industry grapples with multi-year supply chain disruptions and delays that have capped capacity growth and pushed airlines into expensive lease and retrofitting<\/a> arrangements \u2014 forcing them to operate<\/a> older, less fuel-efficient jets, which consume more fuel and incur higher financial burdens due to a maintenance loop. <\/p>\n

\n

MARKET WATCH- <\/p>\n

#1- Oil prices took a dip this morning amid growing expectations for a Russia-Ukraine <\/strong>peace agreement, <\/strong>which could free up the Russian oil trade operations from the weight of Western sanctions, Reuters<\/a> reports. Brent crude futures fell USD 0.33 to USD 62.80 \/ bbl as of 04:12 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) decreased USD 0.32 to USD 58.33 \/ bbl. <\/p>\n

#2- <\/strong>Baltic <\/strong>index surges: <\/strong>The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk sea freight index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 inched up<\/a> on Wednesday by 3.4% to 2,401, buoyed by the bigger vessel segment. The capesize increased 7.2% to 3,998, almost its highest in two years, while the panamax index inched up 0.4% to 1,965. The smaller supramax index gained 0.3% to 1,435.<\/p>\n

DATA POINTS- <\/p>\n

#1- Saudi\u2019s non-oil exports inched down 0.4% to over SAR 57 bn in 3Q 2025<\/strong>, according to preliminary data (pdf)<\/a> from the General Authority for Statistics (Gastat). Total non-oil merchandise exports, including re-exports, increased 19.4% y-o-y in the same period, as re-exports inched up 69.6% to hit SAR 38.5 bn.<\/p>\n

The trade balance soared 17.2% y-o-y in 3Q into a surplus of SAR 66.1 bn. <\/strong>Total exports inched up 9.5% y-o-y to SAR 303.3 bn, while total imports increased 7.5% y-o-y to SAR 237.2 bn during the period.<\/p>\n

Oil exports also surged 5.5% y-o-y in 3Q 2025 to SAR 207.8 bn.<\/strong> Meanwhile, the share of oil exports out of total exports decreased to 68.5% of total exports over the same period.<\/p>\n

China remained the main trading partner for the Kingdom<\/strong>, receiving 14.9% of Saudi\u2019s total exports at SAR 45.2 bn, a 6.7% y-o-y increase. The UAE came in second place with 10.8% of total exports, followed by India (9.5%). Meanwhile, China accounted for 27.6% of imports at SAR 65.5 bn, followed by the US (8.1%) and the UAE (5.6%). <\/p>\n

The main ports: <\/strong>Dammam\u2019s King Abdulaziz Port received 26.9% of the Kingdom\u2019s total imports in 3Q, followed by Jeddah Islamic Port (21.5%) and Riyadh\u2019s King Khalid International Airport (13.4%).<\/p>\n

\n

#2- <\/strong>Around<\/strong> 2 mn tons of cargo are targeted for freight transportation every year through <\/strong>the western route of <\/strong>the Russia-led North-South corridor <\/strong>\u2014 with plans to expand to 15 mn tons, Iran Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development told Trend News<\/a>. <\/p>\n
