The session is set to see the intergovernmental body formally adopt its Net-Zero Framework \u2014 rolling out new fuel standards for ships and a global pricing mechanism for emissions. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;line-height:1.15;margin-right:-9pt;margin-left:0;margin-top:0;orphans:2;margin-bottom:0;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Why this matters: <\/strong>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/mediacentre\/pressbriefings\/pages\/imo-approves-netzero-regulations.aspx\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Net-Zero Framework<\/a> will roll out mandatory emissions limits and greenhouse gas pricing across the entire shipping sector, including large ocean-going ships over 5k gross tonnage that account for 85% of international shipping\u2019s emissions. The framework was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/climate\/en\/news\/story\/03bd3354-54aa-418b-bbc6-59e924ed9126\/%253cmark%253eimo%253c%2Fmark%253e-pushes-ahead-with-emissions-levy-on-shipping\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">adopted last April<\/a> and would oblige the global shipping industry \u2014 which is responsible for 3% of the world\u2019s GHG emissions \u2014 to reduce and pay for a portion of its emissions. It is expected to come into effect in 2027. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;line-height:1.15;margin-right:-9pt;margin-left:0;margin-top:0;orphans:2;margin-bottom:0;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>A rift among IMO members: <\/strong>The draft was passed with support from 63 countries including China and Brazil. Sixteen countries voted against \u2014 nine of which were from our region, including Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. The US threatened IMO members with retaliation <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/8cd736f1-68ad-4ff5-8651-3ffe216c85b6\/today:-adq-invests-in-evolution-data-centres-%2B-us-threatens-retaliation-ahead-imo-green-framework-vote\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">last August<\/a>, and renewed its warnings last week, threatening visa restrictions and sanctions to retaliate against nations that vote in favor, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/reuters.com\/world\/us-threatens-visa-restrictions-sanctions-against-un-members-that-back-imo-2025-10-11\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;line-height:1.15;margin-right:-9pt;margin-left:0;margin-top:0;orphans:2;margin-bottom:0;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>The <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/itliraq.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Iraq International Transportation & Airports & Logistics Expo & Conference<\/a><\/strong><strong> will<\/strong><strong> open its doors today until Friday, 17 October<\/strong> in Baghdad. The expo \u2014 Iraq\u2019s first platform focused exclusively on transport and logistics services \u2014 is expected to feature over 100 exhibitors, including ports, aviation, road, and rail players as well as logistics tech firms. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a>  <strong>#1- <\/strong><strong>Turkish<\/strong><strong> Airlines might be dumping Boeing for Airbus: <\/strong>Turkey\u2019s flagship carrier Turkish Airlines is mulling switching its recently announced Boeing 737 Max jet order to Airbus aircraft if talks with engine supplier CFM grind to a halt, Chairman Ahmet Bolat told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/turkish-airlines-chair-says-may-switch-boeing-737-order-airbus-if-engine-talks-2025-10-09\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> last week. The Turkish carrier is in current discussions with CFM on costs \u2014 if no agreement is reached, Turkish Airlines is set to tap Airbus and engine manufacturer Pratt and Whitney for engine contracts for the A320neo line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Things were just looking up for the two\u2026:<\/strong> Turkish Airlines recently finalized a large order of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/a6c36717-325d-4fd6-88be-04c438c19c25\/%253cmark%253eturkish-airlines%253c%2Fmark%253e-places-order-for-75-boeing-dreamliner-jets\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">75 Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets<\/a> scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2034.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>\u2026but it was expected: <\/strong>The order \u2014 while still major \u2014 wound up being much smaller than originally planned. Up to 150 737 Max jets \u2014 previously floated as part of the order \u2014 were missing from the finalized agreement. Boeing appeared optimistic, saying that it wrapped up negotiations with Turkish Airlines for up to 150 737 Max airplanes, but added that talks are still ongoing with CFM International over the engine component.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>  <strong>#2-<\/strong> <strong>Iraq\u2019s <\/strong><strong>Grand Faw Port draws int\u2019l appetite: <\/strong>The Iraqi government has received requests from international companies to establish facilities for handling iron, steel, and grain at Iraq\u2019s southern Grand Faw Port, General Company for Ports Director General Farhan Al Fartousi told the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ina.iq\/ar\/economie\/245611-.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Iraq News Agency<\/a>. Brent crude futures declined USD 0.21 to USD 62.18 \/ bbl as of 04.25 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) shed USD 0.16 to trade at USD 58.54 \/ bbl. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>What the IEA is penciling in: <\/strong>Global oil supply is set to surge by 3 mn bbl \/ d in 2025 \u2014 up from previous forecasts of 2.7 mn bbl \/ d \u2014 followed by another 2.4 mn bbl \/ d increase in 2026, according to the International Energy Agency\u2019s (IEA) latest <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/oil-market-report-october-2025\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">monthly report<\/a>. The rise will be driven by higher production from Opec+ members and others outside the group. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Supply is rising faster than demand:<\/strong> The IEA trimmed its forecast for world oil demand growth this year to some 700k bbl \/ d, 40k bbl \/ d lower than its previous estimate, citing weaker macroeconomic conditions. Consumption is expected to stay muted through 2025 and 2026, with annual growth averaging around 700k bbl \/ d. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The IEA is signaling a growing supply glut<\/strong>, with global output in September already up by 5.6 mn bbl \/ d from a year ago \u2014 3.1 mn bbl \/ d of which came from Opec+. If current trends hold, global supply is estimated to exceed demand by some 4 mn bbl \/ d next year, compared to around 3.3 mn bbl \/ d last month. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>That\u2019s not what Opec said: <\/strong>In its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/edition\/logistics\/222da1e8-ac88-4820-bb1e-650be53f6a6a\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">monthly oil report<\/a>, the group kept its global oil demand growth forecast unchanged at 1.3 mn bbl \/ d for 2025 and 1.4 mn bbl \/ d for 2026 \u2014 almost double the IEA\u2019s \u2014 arguing that global supply is expected to match demand next year as the group continues to boost production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- Baltic index continues to rise upwards:<\/strong> The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk sea freight index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/baltic\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">slipped nearly 5.7%<\/a> to 2,022 points yesterday. The capesize fell by 11.4% to 3,007 points, while the panamax index climbed 0.5% to 1,815. The smaller supramax index increased 0.6%to 1,408.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">PSA-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Hapag-Lloyd to roll out PSS: <\/strong>Shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd will add a new peak season surcharge (PSS) of USD 250 (EUR 215) per 20-ft container and of USD 300 (EUR 260) per 40-ft container on all types of equipment headed to Dakar, Senegal, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hapag-lloyd.com\/en\/services-information\/news\/2025\/10\/shipping-to-dakar--a-pss-is-coming-up.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>.
