Trump\u2019s<\/strong> tariffs send shockwaves in steel sector:<\/strong> US-imposed tariffs of 50%<\/a> on stainless steel have prompted one third of companies to pause or delay their orders, whereas more than half are reconsidering their sourcing, Reuters<\/a> reports, citing a survey by Finnish steelmaker Outokumpu. The headwinds were complicated by the US decision in August to expand the scope of its levies<\/a> on steel and aluminum to cover more than 400 consumer products, creating further uncertainties that are slowing demand in the market. Still, long-term market prospects remain solid, largely driven by the growing defense industry, Outokumpu President and CEO Kati ter Horst told Reuters.<\/p>\n

French <\/strong>Logistics giant CMA CGM has signed up to acquire the UK <\/strong>operations <\/strong>of rail freight operator <\/strong>Freightliner Group<\/a><\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a>. The acquisition \u2014 still subject to regulatory approval \u2014 is expected to wrap up by early 2026. The transaction value was not disclosed. <\/p>\n

The new arrangement: <\/strong>The transaction will see CMA CGM take ownership of Freightliner\u2019s brand, its UK rail and road operations, and inland terminals, whereas Freightliner will remain a standalone operator backed by CMA CGM's global coverage.
