Iraq <\/strong>+ Nokia to build commercial data centers: <\/strong>Iraq\u2019s Informatics and Telecommunications Public Company (ITPC) has signed an agreement with multinational telco giant Nokia to establish commercial data centers that serve the private sector, according to a statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n

What\u2019s in store? <\/strong>The project entails building two data centers \u2014 that will also cater to governmental and civil entities \u2014 based at Al Intisar and Al Rasheed switchboards in Baghdad. No investment ticket or project timeline were disclosed. The facilities will be Iraq\u2019s first government-owned data centers, Iraqi News<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

What they said:<\/strong> \"For the first time, the data of Iraqis and all companies is preserved inside Iraq in government sites and hands according to the latest specifications and with global accreditation and highly reliable means of security and reliability recognized internationally,\u201d Iraqi Communications Minister Hiyam Al Yasiri was quoted<\/a> as saying.<\/p>\n

Nokia <\/strong>has previously established a data center for Iraq\u2019s Planning Ministry<\/strong>, according to Iraqi News. The Finnish telco player also signed a three-year strategic partnership with Zain Iraq to upgrade its operations in southern Iraq, according to a press release<\/a> published last year.<\/p>\n

e& plans Serbia expansion to power Balkan cloud hub: <\/strong>e&\u2019s digital arm e& Enterprise signed an MoU with Serbia\u2019s Office for IT and e-Government to grow the country\u2019s digital infrastructure, according to a press release<\/a>. The agreement will see capacity at Serbia\u2019s Tier-4 data center campus in Kragujevac triple by up to 40 MW, from 14 MW currently. Land has already been secured for the expansion, which will host workloads from regional government agencies, hyperscalers, and enterprises.<\/p>\n

e& is expanding its operations in Europe:<\/strong> In July<\/a>, e& \u2014 along with Mubadala Investment Company \u2014 also signed an agreement with Hungary\u2019s 4iG to explore regional digital infrastructure projects.
