Deli <\/strong>Glass Co to set up shop in Sokhna\u2019s TEDA Zone<\/strong>:<\/strong> China\u2019s Deli Glass Co<\/a> broke ground on a new USD 70 mn factory for glassware goods in Egypt\u2019s Suez Canal Economic Zone\u2019s (SCZone) China-Egypt TEDA trade zone in Ain El Sokhna, according to a statement<\/a>. Some 80% of the goods produced at the facility are earmarked for export, while 20% will be directed into the local market.<\/p>\n

The details:<\/strong> The new facility \u2013 spanning 120k sqm \u2013 will be developed in two phases, with phase one scheduled to be operational by 2H 2026. The project\u2019s target annual capacity was not disclosed.<\/p>\n

Not the only glassware player in the zone:<\/strong> China Glass Holding subsidiary CNG Egypt New Energy Glass began construction work<\/a> on a USD 300 mn glass factory last year. The project will have a flat glass production line with a daily capacity of 1k tons and a photovoltaic glass production line with a daily capacity of 800 tons.<\/p>\n

DATA POINT-<\/strong> The SCZone has inked contracts for some USD 8.5 bn in investments, amounting to 297 projects in its zones and ports across the country.<\/p>\n

US<\/strong>-based mattress manufacturer <\/strong>SweetNight <\/strong>will set up a USD 70 mn facility in Oman\u2019s <\/strong>Sohar Port and Freezone<\/strong>, after the pair inked a new land lease agreement, according to a statement<\/a>. The facility \u2014 spanning some 96k sqm \u2014 will have a production capacity of up to 3 mn mattresses annually. The site will initially produce goods for export to the US, with plans to expand later into the local Omani, GCC, Indian, and EU markets.
