<\/strong>Oman\u2019s Sohar Port and Freezone has inked three contracts with three international firms to start the construction phase of the Marsa LNG project<\/strong>, according to a statement<\/a>. The USD 1.6 bn project \u2014 the first LNG-dedicated bunkering hub in the Middle East \u2014 will produce 1 mn metric tons of LNG annually and will be entirely powered by a 300 MW solar plant. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what we know about the contracts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

#1- A consultancy agreement has been signed with <\/strong>WSP International<\/a><\/strong> for project management, back-office support, design analysis, site monitoring, and contract management. The consultant contract runs from November 2024 to November 2028. <\/p>\n

#2- A dredging work contract has been inked with <\/strong>Boskalis International<\/a><\/strong> to remove nearly 3.8 mn cubic meters of material to build an access channel, berth pocket, and a turning cycle. The work is slated to be completed by September 2025.<\/p>\n

#3- A construction agreement has been signed with <\/strong>Six Construct LLC<\/a><\/strong> for the development of the LNG jetty, shore protection, and a drainage system. The contract is scheduled to last 16 months. <\/p>\n

REMEMBER<\/strong>-<\/strong> Sohar Port and Freezone began dredging operations<\/a> for the Marsa LNG project in February. LNG production at the plant is set to kick off in 1Q 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
