Taiwan <\/strong>eyes mor<\/strong>e US LNG:<\/strong> Taiwan\u2019s state-backed bodies are planning to triple the US\u2019 share of its LNG imports to reach 30% to help narrow the trade deficit, Bloomberg<\/a> reported on Thursday, citing Taiwan\u2019s Economic Affairs Minister Kuo Jyh-Huei. The Asian nation is also looking to buy USD 6 bn worth of US goods over the next decade. <\/p>\n

Peace over retaliation:<\/strong> Taiwan is seeking more investments in the US and does not intend to impose retaliatory tariffs, Reuters reported last week here<\/a> and here<\/a>. President Lai Ching-te has announced Taiwan\u2019s aim to reach \u201czero tariffs\u201d with the US despite the latter\u2019s 32%<\/a>tarif<\/a>f<\/a> on Taiwan. \u201cWe hope to take advantage of the huge US market, their excellent technology capital and talent, to form a Taiwan-US coalition, a joint fleet approach,\u201d Taiwan\u2019s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung told the newswire.<\/p>\n

Vietnam Airlines has inked an MoU with Citibank for a USD 560 mn loan to partially fund <\/strong>the airline\u2019s likely acquisition of Boeing-made jets<\/strong>, Bloomberg<\/a> reported on Thursday. The Vietnamese flag carrier will receive strategic consulting from Citibank, and plans to meet with the US Export-Import Bank to secure coverage for its loan.
