The minority stake sale is expected to materialize in about five years in a move that could make XRG one of largest publicly traded energy firms in the world, the people said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Adnoc has been churning out IPOs for its subsidiaries since late 2017, starting with its <\/strong><strong>fuel retail arm\u2019s <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.meed.com\/adnoc-raises-851m-from-ipo-of-retail-arm\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">USD 851 mn<\/a><\/strong><strong> ADX debut. <\/strong>Since 2021, it has taken <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wam.ae\/en\/details\/1395302974136\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Adnoc Drilling<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wam.ae\/en\/article\/hszrde3t-adnoc-and-ocis-fertiglobe-completes-landmark-ipo\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Fertiglobe<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wam.ae\/en\/article\/hszrgntq-adnoc-gas-lists-adx-abu-dhabi%E2%80%99s-largest-ever\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Adnoc Gas<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wam.ae\/en\/article\/hszrh7xl-adnoc-completes-historic-ipo-adnoc-ls-adx\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Adnoc Logistics & Services<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.borealisgroup.com\/news\/borouge-successfully-lists-on-adx-in-abu-dhabis-largest-ever-ipo\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Borouge<\/a> to the ADX, in some of the country\u2019s largest IPOs. Combined, these transactions drummed up more capital than Saudi Aramco\u2019s record-breaking Tadawul IPO in 2019, excluding the USD 12 bn it raised in a follow-on offering last year, according to Reuters calculations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Adnoc founded XRG in November 2024 with the aim of investing in lower-carbon energy <\/strong><strong>and chemicals<\/strong> as part of a broader plan to diversify the company\u2019s portfolio and reduce its reliance on oil revenue. The energy giant is prepping XRG to become one of the world\u2019s top five chemical producers and capture 70% of global demand by 2050. Its portfolio already includes <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">majority<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stake<\/a> in Germany\u2019s Covestro and Borouge International. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/a1c8975b-586f-4ed3-9aa6-6db9e32ea010\/adnoc%25e2%2580%2599s%253cmark%253e-xrg%253c%2Fmark%253e-gets-a-new-board\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">XRG\u2019s<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/a1c8975b-586f-4ed3-9aa6-6db9e32ea010\/adnoc%25e2%2580%2599s%253cmark%253e-xrg%253c%2Fmark%253e-gets-a-new-board\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">board<\/a> includes former BP chief Bernard Looney, Blackstone President and COO Jon Gray, and Egyptian bn\u2019aire Nassef Sawiris. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Floated listing venues:<\/strong> The London Stock Exchange (LSE), on which stocks of major oil and gas players like Shell and BP are currently trading, is a strong contender for XRG\u2019s potential IPO, one person told Reuters. However, the LSE has seen investors pull funds recently, which could be a drawback. Meanwhile, a listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) could fetch a higher valuation for XRG, making it a more attractive financial option. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>But first\u2026 restructuring:<\/strong> Adnoc has yet to name a CEO and complete the transfer of assets to XRG before pursuing a public debut, the people said. The company, which was set up <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/caab9352-d19d-4c4a-a14e-3cd5837a1d25\/adnoc-launches%253cmark%253e-xrg%253c%2Fmark%253e-to-invest-in-low-carbon-energy-and-chemicals\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">late last year<\/a>, is due to become operational this quarter with plans to double its USD 80 bn asset value over the next decade.
