China\u2019s <\/strong>Asia Potash<\/a><\/strong> is planning a mega phosphate fertilizer complex in Egypt, with <\/strong>production slated for exports to neighboring countries, <\/strong>company representatives said during a meeting<\/a> last week with General Authority for Investment and Freezones boss Hossam Heiba. The complex will be set up in Upper Egypt and could have a final investment ticket of USD 7-10 bn. <\/p>\n

Just the first phase of the complex will cost USD 1.6 bn<\/strong>, and will involve the extraction of 2 mn tons of phosphate annually for fertilizers production, with 100% of the production slated for export to neighboring markets. <\/p>\n

The project will stretch across large parts of Upper Egypt<\/strong>, with production facilities and the company\u2019s extraction operations stretching from Luxor\u2019s Esna to Aswan\u2019s Sibaiyya. <\/p>\n

More details: <\/strong>The complex is also set to have a total annual production capacity of 10 mn tons of phosphate per year once all phases of the projects are fully operational.
