This applies to all export, import, and transit shipments in line with Basel Convention regulations, with shippers required to secure permits, including notifications and consents from all countries involved in the transport process. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>Phase Two of Al Nalia app is up and running:<\/strong> The Integrated Transport Center (Abu Dhabi Mobility) has launched the second phase of its maritime services and safety app Al Nalia, it said in a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/admobility.gov.ae\/en\/news\/al-nalia-app-and-upgrades\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. The new features added in this phase include integrated marina berth booking, waterway hazard reporting, weather notices notifications, public water transport services booking, and links to local maritime regulations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a>]<strong>#1- <\/strong><strong>Deadline<\/strong><strong> for acceptance of Adia consortium\u2019s bid for Malaysia Airports extended:<\/strong> The deadline for acceptance of the USD 4.1 bn takeover bid for Malaysia Airports, led by a consortium that includes Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia), Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), and Malaysian state players Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Employees Provident Fund, has been extended to 17 January from the original deadline of 8 January, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2025\/1\/200.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">disclosure (pdf)<\/a> to the Malaysian bourse. The group now holds a 70.08% stake in Malaysia Airports, up from 40.85% last month, with an additional 5.65% stake still awaiting transfer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Background: <\/strong>In November, the consortium <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/18bb8b00-4eff-44d8-9fa8-067e10b10cc3\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">submitted a formal conditional offer<\/a> in which Adia and GIP would acquire a 30% stake in Malaysia Airports, while the two Malaysian investors would collectively hold 70%. The consortium aims to upgrade infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and improve services, stating that privatization would better support these objectives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong>The consortium will reveal the level of acceptance of the offer as of 8 January \u201cin due course,\u201d the statement reads. Financial advisors of the transaction <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/e5b0d666-ce36-433e-beab-ae3983a49b04\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">previously described<\/a> the acquisition offer as \u201cnot fair,\u201d but \u201creasonable,\u201d while some directors of Malaysia Airports recommended rejecting the bid due to valuation concerns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>Saudi <\/strong><strong>low-lying ports are among the most vulnerable to a one-meter rise in sea levels, <\/strong> according to an analysis by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2025\/jan\/04\/climate-driven-sea-level-rise-set-to-flood-major-oil-ports\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a> of a recent <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2025\/1\/66.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report (pdf)<\/a> by the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI). The one-meter rise \u2014 now predicted to be inevitable within the decade \u2014 will particularly impact the Aramco-operated Yanbu and Ras Tanura, which together are responsible for 98% of the Kingdom\u2019s critical oil exports. Emirati ports in the sea-facing cities of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan would also be impacted. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The global picture: <\/strong>13 oil ports used by the biggest-sized oil tankers are seriously threatened by the predicted one-meter rise in sea levels, according to the analysis. This includes ports in the US, China, Singapore, South Korea, Russia, and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">MARKET WATCH- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#1- <\/strong><strong>Oil prices<\/strong><strong> continued declining for a second straight session this morning as ample <\/strong><strong>supply and a strong greenback weighed down last week\u2019s rally<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/oil-prices-extend-losses-firmer-dollar-supply-outlook-weigh-2025-01-07\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reports. Both benchmarks gained momentum in a five-day streak of gains last week, settling at the highest price points since October on Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- Baltic index takes a dip: <\/strong>The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk sea freight index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/baltic\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">fell 29 points<\/a> to 1,043 points on Monday, breaking a five-day positive streak. The capesize index decreased 85 points to 1,290, while the panamax index rose 21 points to 1,061. The smaller supramax index shed 17 points to 867.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a>#3- Aramco raises crude prices for most regions, but cuts them for the US:<\/strong> Aramco raised its prices for crude oil for next month for Asian buyers, signaling tighter supply in its key market following Opec+ decision to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/ksa\/en\/news\/story\/bcbe499a-5e67-420b-ae35-54ad983a4b36\/uk-prime-minister-lands-in-the-gcc-today\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">delay<\/a> production increases until April, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-01-06\/saudis-raise-february-crude-prices-as-opec-holds-back-barrels\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported. The oil major\u2019s main Arab Light crude grade will be sold at a premium of USD 1.50 a barrel to the regional benchmark \u2014 an increase of USD 0.6. The Bloomberg survey for traders and refiners penciled in a lower USD 0.1 hike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>In other markets: <\/strong>While there was an increase in the prices of some grades for buyers in the Mediterranean region and Northwestern Europe, prices were cut for US buyers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">DATA POINT- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#1- Cargo transit through Iran surged 31% y-o-y during 9M of the current Iranian <\/strong><strong>calendar <\/strong><strong>year<\/strong>, from 20 March to 20 December 2024, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.trend.az\/iran\/business\/3989941.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Trend30<\/a> reports. Some 16.5 mn tons of goods were transited through the country. Some 10.5 mn tons passed through three major customs points. Shahid Rajai customs accounted for 4.4 mn tons, followed by 3.8 mn tons at Parvizkhan customs, and 2.3 mn tons at Bashmaq customs. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ALSO- <\/strong><strong>Iran\u2019s non-oil exports up 18% in 9M:<\/strong> Iran\u2019s non-oil exports increased 18% y-o-y to USD 43.14 bn in the first nine months of this Iranian calendar year, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irna.ir\/news\/85703134\/%D8%B5%D8%A7%D8%AF%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%BA%DB%8C%D8%B1%D9%86%D9%81%D8%AA%DB%8C-%D8%A8%D9%87-%DB%B4%DB%B3-%D9%85%DB%8C%D9%84%DB%8C%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AF-%D9%88-%DB%B1%DB%B4%DB%B0-%D9%85%DB%8C%D9%84%DB%8C%D9%88%D9%86-%D8%AF%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%B1%D8%B3%DB%8C%D8%AF\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">IRNA<\/a> reports. The total value of Iran\u2019s imports, including gold bullion, amounted to some USD 50.89 bn in the same period. The weight of non-oil exports increased by 13.7% y-o-y to reach 116.35 mn tons, with the average value per ton of exported goods rising by 3.74% y-o-y. China stood out as the largest importer of Iranian non-oil goods, importing USD 11 bn over the last nine months, followed by Iraq at USD 9.4 bn, the UAE at USD 5.3 bn, and Turkey at USD 5.2 bn.
