Egypt\u2019s<\/strong> El Sisi kicks off Euro tour with an inaugural trip to Denmark: <\/strong>Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated the Egyptian-Danish Economic Conference<\/a> on Friday alongside Danish King Frederick X, in what marked the first visit of an Egyptian president to Denmark, according to a statement<\/a>. El Sisi and Frederick X signed a joint declaration promoting the level of Egyptian-Danish relations to a strategic partnership, which El Sisi said will focus on \u201ceconomic, trade, and investment aspects as well as forging closer cooperation between the two sides\u2019 private sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n

What are the areas of interest between these two nations?<\/strong> In a speech<\/a> following the signing, El Sisi namechecked cooperation in maritime transport, energy and the green transition, health, scientific research, investment, agriculture, tourism, ICT, and efforts to combat illegal migration and terrorism as being part of the agreement.<\/p>\n

The two leaders launched the <\/strong>Egypt-Denmark Business Council<\/a><\/strong>, which will serve as a \u201cgateway for Danish economic and commercial bodies to explore investment opportunities in Egypt,\u201d namely in the infrastructure, ICT, renewable energy, and transformative industries sectors. The council \u201caligns with Egypt\u2019s ambition to become a regional hub for supply chains and the transport and trade of renewable and green energy,\u201d El Sisi said. <\/p>\n

El Sisi also met with a number of key Danish business leaders:<\/strong> The president met<\/a> with Philip Christiani, partner in one of the largest renewables investment firms Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners<\/a>, who expressed his company\u2019s interest in exploring investments in Egypt\u2019s sustainable energy sector. El Sisi also met<\/a> with shipping company AP Moller-Maersk Chairman Robert Maersk Uggla, who highlighted the company\u2019s \u201ckeenness to enhance its cooperation and consider increasing the scope of its business in Egypt.\u201d <\/p>\n

El Sisi's visit to Denmark is his first stop in his <\/strong>European tour<\/a><\/strong>, which will also see him land in Norway \u2014 where he will meet the king, prime minister, and members of the nation\u2019s parliament \u2014 and Ireland \u2014 where he is scheduled to hold meetings with the president and prime minister. <\/p>\n
