THE BIG LOGISTICS STORY ABROAD- <\/strong>No end in sight<\/strong> for Boeing strike:<\/strong> Boeing\u2019s machinist strike<\/a> has entered its sixth-week after factory workers voted to reject a wage offer<\/a> on Thursday, Reuters<\/a> reports. The vote came in at 64% in opposition to the offer, a major setback for CEO Kelly Ortberg<\/a>, who took the reins in August. Boeing\u2019s offer included a 35% pay hike<\/a> over four years, a one-time USD 7k ratification bonus, a reinstated incentive plan, and enhanced contributions to workers' retirement plans. The offer still falls short of the union\u2019s targeted 40% pay bump and does not include the reinstitution of defined benefit pensions. <\/p>\n

ICYMI- <\/strong>The strike is taking place<\/a> at Boeing\u2019s 737 Max Jets production hub, worsening the company\u2019s already existing supply chain issues and delivery<\/a> delays. Purchase orders for the company\u2019s 737, 767 and 777 jets have been halted to preserve the company\u2019s credit rating.<\/p>\n

P<\/strong>ressure is mounting<\/strong>: <\/strong>As the strike persists, Boeing\u2019s suppliers are feeling the growing pressure, with five suppliers saying that a further continuation of the strike would force the companies to freeze investments, furlough workers, or even consider halting production, Reuters<\/a> reported last week. The White House is continuing to \u201cencourage parties to continue working to achieve an agreement that works, certainly for all parties,\" White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Thursday, Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n
