The expansion would strengthen London Gateway\u2019s position to take over Felixstowe as the UK\u2019s busiest container facility by 2030. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>BACKGROUND- <\/strong>DP World has been looking to develop berths <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/875634ee-6382-4457-ad53-e9142b01f61b\/dubai-is-investing-aed-2.1-bn-into%253cmark%253e-london-gateway%253c%2Fmark%253e-expansion-project\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">five, six, and seven at London Gateway<\/a>, without specifying the investment ticket or timeline. The move looks to meet the additional capacity needs expected in UK markets starting 2027. DP World is investing AED 2.1 bn to expand London Gateway, Dubai\u2019s First Deputy Ruler Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said in a statement <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/875634ee-6382-4457-ad53-e9142b01f61b\/dubai-is-investing-aed-2.1-bn-into%253cmark%253e-london-gateway%253c%2Fmark%253e-expansion-project\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">back in August<\/a>, ahead of DP World\u2019s launch of the port\u2019s GDP 350 mn fourth berth.
