Shall we?<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a>#1- Italy won\u2019t stand in the way of Adnoc-backed VTTI\u2019s acquisition of Adriatic LNG: <\/strong>The Italian government won\u2019t opt for the Golden Power clause to block or restrict Adnoc-backed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vtti.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">VTTI<\/a> \u2019s acquisition of Italy\u2019s largest LNG terminal <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adriaticlng.it\/en\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Adriatic LNG<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/commodities\/italy-clears-vttis-acquisition-70-adriatic-lng-sources-say-2024-08-06\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported, citing sources it says are in the know. The Golden Power regulations allow the Italian government to veto or impose conditions on transactions involving strategic assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Background:<\/strong> ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/ikav-vtti-buy-majority-stake-italys-biggest-lng-terminal-2024-03-27\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">agreed in March<\/a> to sell their stakes in Adriatic LNG in a transaction that would see VTTI acquire a 70% stake in the terminal and Italian gas grid operator Snam increasing its share to 30%. The transaction could reportedly value the terminal at EUR 800 mn, including debt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Who owns what? <\/strong>ExxonMobil owns 70.7% of Adriatic LNG, while QatarEnergy owns 22%, and Italian gas grid operator Snam owns the remaining 7.3%. VTTI\u2019s shareholders include Adnoc, the world\u2019s largest oil trader Vitol, and Australian investment manager IFM.
