US presidential candidate Donald Trump's plan to raise tariffs on imports could <\/strong>trigger a \"free for all\" in the global trading system<\/strong>, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala warns, according to Bloomberg<\/a>. Trump\u2019s proposal would impose a 60% tariff on imports from China and 10% on imports from the rest of the world. Okonjo-Iweala called on WTO members to \u201ckeep a cool head and not retaliate so we can preserve the world trading system.\u201d<\/p>\n

A n<\/strong>ew wave of car imports is expected to hit ports following an anticipated spike <\/strong>in the number of car-carrying ships<\/strong>, chief executive at shipping giant Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lasse Kristoffersen told the Financial Times<\/a>. Operators have made orders for 198 new vessels that are due to arrive by the end of 2027, which will increase car-carrying capacity by around 42%, says the newswire.
