The investment will give Microsoft President Brad Smith a seat on G42\u2019s board and under the agreement G42 will use Microsoft\u2019s Azure cloud for its AI applications. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The details:&nbsp;<\/strong>The agreement develops an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/e48ef861-b84b-44f3-8184-37352c5232fc\/ai-firm%253cmark%253e-g42-%253c%2Fmark%253ehas-teamed-up-with-microsoft-to-expand-data-center-infrastructure-in-the-uae-%2B-oman-floats-tenders-for-new-road-projects\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">existing partnership<\/a> that saw Microsoft and G42 collaborate on boosting data center infrastructure in the UAE. Under the agreement, Microsoft will hold an unspecified minority stake in G42, while G42 will use Microsoft\u2019s cloud platform, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.azure.microsoft.com\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Azure<\/a>, to run its AI platforms and services and deliver advanced AI services to its public and private sector customers. The framework is part of an \u201cunusual\u201d arrangement worked out between G42 and the US government to encourage the Abu Dhabi-based data center player to divest from China, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-04-16\/microsoft-invests-1-5-billion-in-uae-s-g42-will-get-board-seat\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported yesterday. The agreement was preceded by \u201cbehind-the-scenes negotiations\u201d between G42 and the US government which saw the firm agree to cut its links with China, after the US grew concerned about the outfit\u2019s ties to blacklisted Chinese tech companies and China\u2019s government, Bloomberg also said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What they said: <\/strong>\u201cThrough Microsoft\u2019s strategic investment, we are advancing our mission to deliver cutting-edge AI technologies at scale. This partnership significantly enhances our international market presence, combining G42\u2019s unique AI capabilities with Microsoft\u2019s robust global infrastructure. Together, we are not only expanding our operational horizons but also setting new industry standards for innovation,\u201d G42 CEO Peng Xiao said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The agreement could speed up global AI deployment: <\/strong>\u201cThere are markets today where Microsoft and really no American technology company has a real data center presence.
