Flyby + Terra partner on <\/strong>last-mile delivery<\/strong>: <\/strong>UAE-based smart city technology company Flyby<\/a> is partnering with the UAE\u2019s Terra<\/a> to offer a sustainable last-mile mobility solution and reduce emissions, according to a press release<\/a>. Under the partnership, Terra, a sustainable last-mile delivery platform, will provide delivery drivers with e-bikes powered by the Middle East\u2019s first swappable battery network, and Flyby will provide cloud-enabled smart delivery boxes. Drivers will be able to use Terra\u2019s stations to quickly swap their e-bike batteries instead of charging them, according to a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last-mile delivery platform <\/strong>Yango<\/a><\/strong> is bringing <\/strong>autonomous <\/strong>last-mile <\/strong>delivery <\/strong>solutions to the GCC<\/strong>, according to a press release<\/a>. Yango says it will showcase these solutions, which are powered by AI and advanced robotics, at LEAP 2024 in KSA. Yango previously launched<\/a> a consumer-to-consumer delivery in Dubai. The platform has introduced services in the Middle East including Yango ride-hailing, Yango Maps, Yango Delivery, Yango Play, and Yasmina, an Arabic-speaking AI assistant.<\/p>\n

I<\/strong>raq upgrades customs <\/strong>system:<\/strong> Iraqi customs launched the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) at its Umm Qasr port in Basra earlier this week, according to a statement<\/a>. The move is part of Iraq\u2019s efforts to automate customs procedures by developing the necessary digital infrastructure, Finance Minister Taim Safi said. The system should reduce errors by providing accurate and real-time data as well as give a boost to the country\u2019s e-commerce sector and stimulate investment by transitioning to a digital economy supported by enhanced customs procedures, according to the statement. The system will also increase financial transparency as well as ensure that Iraq\u2019s customs services adapt to regional and global changes, the statement says.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s ASYCUDA? <\/strong>ASYCUDA<\/a> is an international computerized customs management system that covers foreign trade procedures and handles customs declarations, accounting, transit and suspense procedures, and generates trade data, according to its website<\/a>. The system can be adapted to be compatible with the national characteristics of customs regimes, national legislation, and tariffs, according to the website. It also uses international codes and standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization, World Customs Organization, and the UN, the website states.<\/p>\n
