<\/strong>DHL Global Forwarding<\/a><\/strong> and <\/strong>Fraport AG<\/a><\/strong>have broken ground on a new air freight center at <\/strong>Frankfurt Airport<\/strong>, according to a press release<\/a>. The center \u2014 slated to open in mid-2025 and located in CargoCity South \u2014 will serve as the European headquarters for StarBroker, DHL's in-house charter flight service provider. The new center will have 24.5k square meters of hall space with 54 gates and cross-docks, 3k square meters of office space, as well as parking for trucks and cars. <\/p>\n

UK to let in some goods unchecked if overwhelmed by <\/strong>post-Brexit border controls<\/strong>:<\/strong> The UK will let in imported animal products from the EU without border checks if the country\u2019s ports get overwhelmed by new post-Brexit border controls that come into force in April, The Financial Times<\/a> reports, citing government contingency planning papers it has seen. Trade groups have expressed concern that newly introduced paperwork and physical checks on plant and animal products from Europe could disrupt supply chains and cause a shortage of consumer goods in the UK. \u201cThere is\u2026 a possibility that some [border control posts] \u2014 despite good planning \u2014 may not be able to complete 100% documentary checks before a consignment\u2019s arrival in the GB,\u201d the document stipulates.<\/p>\n

The details:<\/strong> The UK\u2019s post-Brexit border regulations require an export health certificate to be submitted at least 24 hours before products arrive. Goods will be automatically re-routed for physical inspection if they arrive before their documentation has been verified. The contingency planning document says that border control may not be able to perform the required checks by April, in which case the \u201cautomated clearance process\u201d will be applied.<\/p>\n

I<\/strong>ndia is poised to be the world\u2019s biggest driver of growth in oil demand between 2023 and <\/strong>2030<\/strong>, Reuters<\/a> reports, citing the International Energy Agency (IEA). India is expected to see an increase in oil demand of some 1.2 mn barrels per day (bbl\/d) between 2023-2030, accounting for more than a third of the projected global increase of 3.2 mn bbl\/d. India\u2019s demand is forecasted to reach some 6.6 mn bbl\/d in 2030, up from 5.5 mn bbl\/d in 2023.
