Kuwait Airways is adding five new <\/strong>Airbus 350A and Boeing 777F <\/strong>aircraft to its <\/strong>cargo fleet by 2030<\/strong>, Zawya<\/a> quotes Chairman Abdul Mohsen Al Fagan as telling FlightGlobal. The company has the existing infrastructure for freight operations, but needs to establish a management and sales structure to develop it, Al Fagan said, adding that a new shipping strategy will be determined before the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

FedEx reduces transit times for shipments from Vietnam to UAE + KSA<\/strong>:<\/strong> FedEX is launching an additional four weekly B767 freighter flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, totalling nine flights a week, according to a press release<\/a>. The move should expedite transit times by one business day for importers in the two Gulf countries. <\/p>\n

AD Ports to deploy maritime emissions monitoring solution: <\/strong>AD Ports Group<\/a> has partnered withdigital maritime platform RightShip<\/a> to deploy its Maritime Emissions Portal (MEP) at its ports, according to a press release<\/a>. The system calculates ship emissions within port and terminal facilities and identifies areas where the environmental impact can be reduced, according to the release. <\/p>\n

STORAGE + WAREHOUSI<\/strong>NG-<\/strong><\/p>\n

Egyptian importers could get some relief on their port storage dues:<\/strong> The Egyptian cabinet has agreed to issue a decision to reduce storage fees at ports for general commodities, bulk and liquid cargo, and containers, for a period of three months, according to a cabinet statement<\/a>. The ministers also agreed to request the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport to extend a three-month renewable storing fees exemption period. The cabinet also called on shipping lines to reduce penalties on clients who are behind on their payments given the \u201ccurrent circumstances,\u201d proposing mechanisms to address the issue, including relocating the cargo outside the port or to another port depending on availability of space.<\/p>\n

ENERGY-<\/strong><\/p>\n

Qatar Energy<\/a><\/strong> has inked a 27-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales and purchase <\/strong>agreement with Chinese petrochemical company <\/strong>Sinopec<\/a><\/strong>, according to a press release<\/a>. The agreement will see the delivery of 3 mn tons of LNG annualy from the North Field South (NFS) expansion project to Sinopec\u2019s terminals in China. Under the terms of the agreement, Qatar Energy will transfer 5% interest to Sinopec via a joint venture company. <\/p>\n

Background: <\/strong>The two companies previously signed<\/a> a definitive partnership agreement for the North Field East (NFE) expansion project, the largest in LNG history. The agreement marked the entry of Sinopec as a shareholder in one of the NFE joint venture companies that own the NFE project. <\/p>\n

ZONES-<\/strong><\/p>\n

China and Iran have signed an MoU to build a power plant in Iran\u2019s Maku Freezone<\/strong>, which is one of Iran\u2019s largest, Tehran Times<\/a> reports. Under the MoU, an unnamed Chinese company will invest USD 7 mn to fund a power plant project that will supply electricity to the developing zone\u2019s startups and IT companies. The partnership aligns with Iran\u2019s plans to make Maku a smart city, head of the zone Hossein Garousi said, adding that the zone already has the necessary hardware and software infrastructure to achieve this goal.<\/p>\n
