The agreement, which was inked by the countries\u2019 senior transportation ministry officials in Tehran, outlines specific details for the construction of the railway and allows construction teams to begin working on the project site, according to PressTV. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Timeline:<\/span><span> The contract sets a timeline for the project, with work scheduled to begin in early 2024,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> according to PressTV. Construction is expected to conclude within three to four years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">ICYMI:<\/span><span> The EUR 1.6 bn railway, for which Iran and Russia inked an <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/6779dbde-de87-427d-af2e-f500dff48b90\" style=\"\">agreement<\/a><\/span><span> in May, <\/span><span> the EUR 1.6 bn, will connect Rasht, located near the Caspian Sea, and Astara, situated on the border with Azerbaijan. Upon its completion, this railway link will enable the transportation of freight by rail from the Persian Gulf to Helsinki in Finland, passing through Russia's Saint Petersburg, according to Iran\u2019s official news agency <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.irna.ir\/news\/85113739\/Iran-Russia-sign-1-6bn-contract-to-build-Rasht-Astara-railway\" style=\"\">IRNA<\/a><\/span><span>. It is considered a vital part of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">INSTC, which connects India, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, and other countries through railways and sea routes.
