<\/span>Tehran is ramping up efforts to electrify its transport fleet,<\/span> according <\/span>to an IRNA news agency report cited by <\/span>PressTV<\/a><\/span>. The country\u2019s ministry of industries (MIMT) has committed to furnish Tehran\u2019s intra-city transport fleet with 50k electric cars and 200k e-bikes by March of next year, according to ministerial statements cited by the report.<\/span><\/p>\n

The plan\u2019s first phase will focus on Tehran\u2019s busy southern and central regions<\/span>, according to PressTV. Some 5k slow and fast charging stations will be distributed throughout the city to accommodate electric taxis and motorbikes. In line with these steps, Tehran\u2019s municipality will finance the import and manufacture of about 150k e-bikes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Electrification of Iran\u2019s transport sector is a \u201ctop priority\u201d for the government<\/span>, according to statements by new MIMT boss Aliabadi cited in the report.
