The signing comes on the heels of a <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adportsgroup.com\/en\/news-and-media\/2023\/03\/15\/ad-ports-group-signs-hot-for-new-multipurpose-terminal-in-pointe-noire-port-republic-of-the-congo\" style=\"\">head of terms agreement<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> inked by both sides in March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The details: <\/span><span style=\"\">The agreement grants AD Ports Group exclusive rights to develop, operate, manage, and maintain New East Mole Port, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">which handles containers, general cargo, break-bulk, and other types of cargo, the statement said. Running 30 years from the date of signing, the terms also permit AD Ports Group to renew the arrangement for a further 20 years, subject to the same terms and conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">AD Ports Group will invest USD 500 mn at the terminal over the 30-year duration<\/span><span style=\"\">,<\/span><span style=\"\"> most of which will go towards digitization and improving efficiency at the terminal, the statement added. A USD 220 mn investment is slated for the first phase of the concession agreement and is expected to be concluded within the next two and a half years. This includes<\/span><span> \u201cdesign, implementation and operation of single-window, software development, digital architecture, business analytics, digital operations support and digital transformation,\u201d the statement said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">What they said: <\/span><span style=\"\">\u201cBy expanding our operations and presence in Congo, we are not only strengthening our position in the region, but also tapping into a new market with immense potential. We anticipate boosting trade and commerce between our countries and opening new trade routes, creating new employment opportunities, and contributing to the overall development of Congo,\u201d said AD Ports Managing Director and Group CEO <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Mohamed Al Shamisi. Congo\u2019s International Cooperation Minister Denis-Christel Nguesso referred to the accord as a \u201cgame-changer\u201d that will give strong impetus to the country\u2019s transport, trade, and logistics sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Also in the works: <\/span><span style=\"\">AD Ports Group is also reportedly looking to acquire terminals at Pakistan\u2019s port city of Karachi in exchange for emergency funds needed by the country, according to Indian daily <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.siasat.com\/pakistan-to-hand-over-karachi-port-terminals-to-uae-2620107\/\" style=\"\">Siasat<\/a><\/span><span style=\"\">.
