The <\/span><span style=\"\">exemptions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> will benefit businesses in more than 30 freezones throughout the UAE.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">What corporate tax?<\/span><span style=\"\"> The new regulation applies to taxable income in excess of <\/span><span style=\"\">AED 375k<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> and follows on from a 5% value added tax (VAT) that was rolled out in 2018. The move further erodes the UAE\u2019s status as a tax haven, which had helped it rise to prominence as a top destination for international trade and the mega rich.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The exemptions also extend to income earned from trade with the UAE mainland in strategic sectors<\/span><span style=\"\"> including manufacturing, goods processing, and logistics. \u201cThe regime has been designed to ensure strategic sectors will thrive in the freezones.
