THE BIG LOGISTICS STORY-<\/span>A new handling facility in Khalifa port:<\/span>AD Ports Group<\/span> and<\/span> Brazilian logistics operator and iron ore producer <\/span>Vale<\/span> will develop a mega steelmaking hub in <\/span>Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi <\/span>(KEZAD) and a handling facility in Abu Dhabi\u2019s Khalifa port that can accommodate Valemax vessels. <\/span><\/p>\n

HAPPENING TODAY-<\/span><\/p>\n

The final price of the Adnoc L&S IPO will be announced today<\/span>, after the subscription period <\/span>for institutional investors ended yesterday. The company had set a price range of <\/span>USD 1.99-2.01 for the IPO, which could raise as much as <\/span>USD 769.4 mn, and could value it as high as USD 4.05 bn. <\/span>The company will list its shares on the ADX on 1 June.<\/span><\/p>\n

National Marine Dredging doubled its cornerstone investment in the IPO to <\/span>USD 60 mn<\/a><\/span>, after the company <\/span>upped its IPO size<\/a><\/span> from a 15% stake to 19% on strong investor demand, <\/span>Zawya<\/a><\/span> reports.<\/span> Retail investors got a 12% slice of the offering, while institutional investors can submit bids for 85%, and another 3% is saved for Adnoc L&S employees and retirees.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> <\/span>A rebooted Black Sea grain agreement is off to a rocky start <\/span>with Russia and <\/span>Ukraine trading blame on who is stonewalling, <\/span>Reuters<\/a><\/span> reports<\/span>. A last-minute breakthrough last week saw the framework \u2014 which has offered considerable relief to global food and fertilizer supply chains affected by the conflict in Ukraine \u2014 <\/span>extended for another two months<\/a><\/span>. Ukrainian officials, however, have accused Russia of \u201cgross violations\u201d by refusing to inspect vessels bound for Ukraine\u2019s primary grain exporting port, and Russian officials have in turn complained that they are unable to export ammonia via a pipeline to Ukrainian ports. <\/span><\/p>\n

DATA POINT #1- Bahrain\u2019s trade surplus shifted to a BAD 152 mn (USD 403.2 mn) deficit <\/span>in April, with <\/span>exports falling <\/span>37% y-o-y to BAD 303 mn (USD 804 mn), <\/span>Bahrain News Agency<\/a><\/span> reports. The country\u2019s <\/span>imports increased 3% y-o-y to BAD 523 mn (USD 1.38 bn) in April. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span> WATCH THIS SPACE#1- Will the Iran-Turkey-Pakistan freight railway be relaunched?<\/span> A Pakistani official proposed to <\/span>relaunch a cargo train between <\/span>Islamabad, Tehran, and Istanbul <\/span>at the <\/span>Pakistan Business Forum<\/a><\/span>, to boost trade between the three countries<\/span>, Pakistani news outlet <\/span>Dawn<\/a><\/span> reported. The cargo train would provide \u201cfaster, more cost-effective, and reliable transportation,\u201d as cargo can travel to Europe via Turkey along this route in 15 days, <\/span>Pakistan Business Forum head<\/span> Ejaz Tanveer said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Background: <\/span>The ITI train has been suspended since July 2022, following disruptions caused by flooding that damaged the rail in the region of Balochistan, Dawn <\/span>reports<\/a><\/span>. Prior to this, operations of the railway had first begun<\/span> in 2009 but <\/span>remained suspended<\/a><\/span> due to technical issues, <\/span>only resuming in December 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

WATCH THIS SPACE #3- <\/span>Disc<\/span>ussions are underway on the tendering process for the new Saudi-Bahrain <\/span>Causeway<\/span>, Director of Land Transportation Planning & Studies at the Bahrain Transport Ministry Hussain Ali Yaqoob said, according to <\/span>Zawya Projects<\/a><\/span>. The new King Hamad Causeway will connect Bahrain to the <\/span>GCC Railway<\/a><\/span> and will supplement the existing King Fahd Causeway. The project, which will be implemented as a public-private partnership, will undergo pre-qualification once final approval is obtained, Yaqoob said. A lack of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supplies and alternative hydrogen designs being still in their early stages of development make it unlikely that the target will be met, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said.
