Under the terms set out in the 20-year partnership, DHL Global Forwarding will adopt rail as one of the main modes for transporting goods across the UAE. The statement did not reveal a timeline or investment value for the agreement, which represents Etihad Rail\u2019s first commercial partnership since the national railway network opened for freight operations <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/dff431d4-20a9-4bb8-9330-6abef346b109\" style=\"\">earlier this year<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, according to the statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The agreement is expected to boost trade and logistics in the UAE and ease pressure on road networks<\/span><span>,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> as well as strengthen end-to-end logistics and supply chain services for customers in the region, the statement said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The partnership is a big plus for the UAE\u2019s sustainability drive: <\/span><span>Etihad Rail is slated to make significant contributions towards the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaoffice.abudhabi\/en\/topic\/uae-net-zero-2050\/\" style=\"\">UAE Net Zero 2050<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> drive. Current projections see the UAE\u2019s national railway reducing emissions from trucks by 21% by 2050, with each freight train accounting for 300 trucks taken off the road, the statement added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">Background:<\/span><span> Etihad Rail<\/span><span>\u2019s 900 km national network connects four major ports and seven logistics centers across the country, with a fleet made up of 38 locomotives and more than 1k wagons.
