THE BIG LOGISTICS STORY- Aramex<\/span> and <\/span>AD Ports<\/span> are establishing a <\/span>joint venture<\/span> to develop a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) to service <\/span>freight forwarders<\/span> across the GCC, Indian and East and West African markets. <\/span><\/p>\n

HAPPENING TODAY-<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> <\/span> ADNOC L&S kickstarts IPO: <\/span>ADNOC<\/a><\/span>\u2019s<\/span> logistics subsidiary, ADNOC L&S, is opening <\/span>the subscription period for retail and institutional investors and announcing its shares\u2019 indicative price range today before it lists its shares on the ADX on 1 Ju<\/span>ne. The retail portion of the offering will close next Tuesday, 23 May, while institutional investors will have until next Wednesday, 24 May to submit their bids. The final price offer will be announced next Thursday, 25 May. The <\/span>offering<\/a><\/span> will see ADNOC sell 1.1 bn company-owned shares, amounting to a 15% stake in the company. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> <\/span>PSA-<\/span>Emirates<\/a><\/span> airline has extended its hold on flights to and from Khartoum until 31 <\/span>August<\/span>, <\/span>according to a <\/span>company announcement<\/a><\/span>. The airline cited \u201ca deteriorating situation of civil unrest\u201d as the reason for the cancellations and directed ticket holders to request refunds or alternative arrangements from Emirates or its bookers.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> <\/span> WATCH THIS SPACE #1- G7 finance leaders have pledged to work together until the end of the year on a scheme to <\/span>diversify supply chains<\/span> and enhance supply chain resilience, according to a joint <\/span>communique (pdf)<\/a><\/span>. Central bankers and finance ministers from the group of advanced economies agreed to assist low and middle-income economies in developing supply and value chains for energy-related products. This comes following a few years that saw global supply chains upended amid covid-19 related disruptions in China and the Russia-Ukraine war. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span> WATCH THIS SPACE #2<\/span>- <\/span>Turkish airlines could soon make a record aircraft order: <\/span>Turkish<\/a><\/span>Airlines<\/a><\/span> is reportedly set to announce an order of 600 aircraft at the <\/span>IATA Annual General Meeting<\/a><\/span>t<\/span>aking place between 4-6 June in Istanbul, Turkey, <\/span>Reuters<\/a><\/span> quotes airline chairman Ahmed Bolat as saying. The airline is in final discussions with \u201cone of the big manufacturers\u201d for an order of 400 narrow body aircraft and 200 wide body aircraft delivered over the course of ten years, Bolat reportedly said at a press meeting. If the order goes through, this would expand the airline's fleet to 810 aircraft, and would become the single largest order an airline has ever made, eclipsing Air India\u2019s previous record order of 470 Airbus and Boeing planes. <\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Africa Forum of Investment and Commerce<\/a><\/span> is taking place today and <\/span>tomorrow<\/span> under the theme \u201cAfrica\u2019s Gateway to Industry, Agriculture and Trade\u201d at the Sheraton Hotel in Algiers. Hosted by the Arab-African Center for Investment and Development (CAAID), the forum will bring together more than 650 economic players including government decision makers, researchers, experts, investors, and manufacturers to have economic discussions under the theme.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East<\/a><\/span> begins<\/span> today at the Dubai World <\/span>Trade Centre, and will continue until Thursday. <\/span>The conference, which will comprise a trade show, conference tracks and networking, will connect ship owners, shipyards, port operators, government representatives, and industry professionals from across the MENA region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 35th<\/span>IATA Ground Handling Conference<\/a><\/span>, hosted by Etihad,<\/span> kicks off today at <\/span>the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, and runs until Thursday.<\/span> The event brings together global industry leaders from airlines, airports, ground service providers and manufacturers to network and discuss industry trends and developments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 79th <\/span>IATA Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit<\/a><\/span> will take <\/span>place from 4-6 June, in the Hilton Bomonti in Istanbul, Turkey<\/span>. The event will gather airline leaders from across the globe to discuss <\/span>post-pandemic aviation, airline sustainability, operational challenges from the past year and the future of aviation, according to the <\/span>event program (pdf)<\/a><\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n
