{"id":69918,"date":"2023-04-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2023\/04\/03\/dp-world-adds-new-edible-oil-terminal-at-berbera-port\/"},"modified":"2023-04-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T00:00:00","slug":"dp-world-adds-new-edible-oil-terminal-at-berbera-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2023\/04\/03\/dp-world-adds-new-edible-oil-terminal-at-berbera-port\/","title":{"rendered":"DP World adds new edible oil terminal at Berbera port"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The UAE\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;font-weight:700;text-decoration-skip-ink:none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpworld.com\/en\/uae\" style=\"\">DP World<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> has kicked off construction of a new 18k ton edible oil <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">terminal at Somaliland\u2019s Berbera Port<\/span><span>, according to a <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpworld.com\/news\/releases\/dp-world-expands-offering-at-berbera\/\" style=\"\">press release<\/a><\/span><span>. <\/span><span>When completed, the terminal will for the first time allow Berbera to service 16 meter draught ships and handle shipments of bulk edible oil.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> The terminal\u2019s capacity will be expanded \u201cas demand grows,\u201d the statement says. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The terminal has been leased out:<\/span><span> The first phase of the terminal has already been leased on a long-term basis to <\/span><span>Mzahim Investment, a subsidiary<\/span><span> of investment manager <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/egi.ae\/about_us\" style=\"\">Al Ghurair Investments<\/a><\/span><span>, which has <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/al-ghurair.com\/en\/our-sectors\/resources\/oilseed-processing-&-trading\" style=\"\">experience in the edible oils market<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">SOUND SMART- <\/span><span>DP World took over management of <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3JOqbpm\" style=\"\">Berbera Port<\/a><\/span><span> back in 2017, <\/span><span>and has since<\/span><span>implemented new digital systems and<\/span><span>increased cargo volumes by 35% at the port<\/span><span>. This new terminal is part of DP World\u2019s efforts to make Berbera a main trading hub in the Horn of Africa, with a potential to serve a population of c.140 mn people.
