Iran <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/qatari-lng-tanker-sailing-towards-hormuz-strait-shipping-data-shows-2026-05-09\/\" style=\"\">reportedly<\/a> approved the shipment as Pakistan pushes to secure permission for a limited number of LNG tankers to transit the strait.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>IN CONTEXT-<\/strong> Two Qatari LNG tankers were <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2026\/04\/07\/today-non-oil-pmis-signal-slowdown-across-the-region\/\" style=\"\">halted<\/a> near Hormuz earlier last month as the conflict disrupted outbound gas flows. However, the UAE\u2019s Adnoc managed to move two LNG cargoes out of the region recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The market is now watching whether this was a one-off or the start of a restart:<\/strong> QatarEnergy\u2019s European customer Edison expects the Gulf producer could initially restore around two-thirds of contracted LNG volumes in a \u201cmonth or a month and a half\u201d following any kind of \u201clasting\u201d peace agreement, the Italian utility\u2019s CEO Nicola Monti <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/edison-sees-qatar-restarting-lng-supply-30-45-days-after-peace-2026-05-08\/\" style=\"\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>QatarEnergy appears to have kept enough production alive to avoid a cold restart<\/strong>, keeping operation levels at a minimum by continuing LNG exports to Kuwait \u2014 a move that could allow a faster ramp-up once wider export routes reopen. DP World is providing a safety net that allows trade to continue even when geopolitical tensions rise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <\/strong> <strong>RAIL<\/strong><strong> \u2014 Iran\u2019s trade detours inland?<\/strong> Iran is leaning on rail freight for inland trade with China as Tehran moves to keep goods moving under mounting pressure on its ports due to the US blockade. Each Xi\u2019an-Tehran rail service carries around 50 standard 40-ft containers, while a long-haul container ship can carry thousands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Next on the rail map:<\/strong> Tehran is also <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.irna.ir\/news\/86148187\/Iran-Pakistan-discuss-strengthening-rail-cooperation-regional\" style=\"\">working<\/a> on deepening its rail cooperation with Islamabad, with a focus on upgrading the Taftan-Zahedan link and the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul freight route \u2014 giving Iran another land-side corridor to move cargo when seaborne routes are constrained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Market watch<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Oil prices surged this morning after US President Donald Trump criticized <\/strong><strong>Iran\u2019s response to a US peace proposal <\/strong>\u2014 fueling supply concerns as the Strait of Hormuz remained mostly closed, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/oil-jumps-us-iran-fail-reach-agreement-peace-proposal-2026-05-10\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports.
