Let\u2019s dive in. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Watch this space<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a>  M<\/strong><strong>&<\/strong><strong>A \u2014 Dubai Aerospace Enterprise\u2019s aircraft lessor DAE Capital is close to<\/strong> <strong>acquiring leasing platform Macquarie AirFinance<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/dae-capital-nears-deal-buy-aircraft-leasing-firm-macquarie-airfinance-sources-2026-02-22\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports, citing two industry sources. The company has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/aircraft-lessors-steer-steady-course-risks-accumulate-2026-01-30\/\" style=\"\">reportedly been competing<\/a> with other regional bidders, namely KSA\u2019s AviLease and Qatar\u2019s Lesha Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>DAE is showing no signs of slowing down: <\/strong>DAE onboarded some 280 jets while shedding 111, with its fleet of owned and managed aircraft rising some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dubaiaerospace.com\/2026\/02\/04\/dae-announces-43-increase-in-pre-tax-profits-for-full-year-2025\/\" style=\"\">38% y-o-y to 604 planes<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/dubaiaerospace.com\/2026\/02\/04\/dae-announces-43-increase-in-pre-tax-profits-for-full-year-2025\/\" style=\"\">.<\/a> The firm finalized its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2025\/05\/08\/dae-finalizes-acquisition-of-ireland-based-nordic-aviation-capital\/\" style=\"\">full acquisition<\/a> of Ireland-based Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) for an enterprise value of USD 2 bn in May. NAC\u2019s fleet comprised 252 assets as of September 2024, leased to about 60 airlines in 40 countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>  <strong>PIPELINES<\/strong><strong> \u2014 Renewed pipeline talk is back \u2014 as is the North African rivalry:<\/strong> Algeria has recently dusted off the 30 bcm per year Trans-Saharan gas pipeline, pitching a straight shot for Nigerian gas to Europe via Niger and its own export system. Algerian major Sonatrach was directed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to start \u201cimmediately\u201d by late March, with no financing plan for the USD 13 bn project, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mees.com\/2026\/2\/20\/geopolitical-risk\/algerias-trans-saharan-gas-pipeline-revival-intensifies-rivalry-with-morocco\/ed7642f0-0e66-11f1-8955-03c3f4723a53\" style=\"\">Mees<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Morocco is playing the same game: <\/strong>The country is still marketing the 7k km African Atlantic gas pipeline along 14 West African coastlines, with a USD 25 bn price tag and \u201csigned up\u201d host countries whose commitments remain undefined, Mees said. Officials at state hydrocarbons firm Onhym told Mees in October that feasibility, FEED, and surveys are complete and that financing will come via regional SPVs. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Strip away the maps and the rhetoric, and both projects hit the same wall: <\/strong>Security exposure, massive capital needs, and timelines that clash with Europe\u2019s energy demands and the decarbonization clock, Mees added. Long-dated, high-risk transit projects face shrinking windows of relevance. The takeaway could be that these pipelines are becoming more of a leverage tool than purely infrastructure. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>TRADE \u2014 Iraq is preparing to receive its first LNG cargo by mid-June as it <\/strong><strong>looks to offset unreliable Iranian gas flows<\/strong> \u2014 after US LNG infrastructure firm <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mees.com\/2026\/2\/20\/refining-petrochemicals\/iraq-lng-imports-to-begin-in-june\/19d15300-0e67-11f1-8620-a55dcdbe99fa\" style=\"\">Excelerate Energy secured berthing<\/a> for its Hull 3407 floating storage and regasification unit at jetties two, three, and four at Basra\u2019s Khor Al Zubair Port. Under a five-year agreement <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2025\/10\/06\/today-china-banks-to-bankroll-aramcos-jafurah-project\/\" style=\"\">signed<\/a> last October, Excelerate will invest some USD 450 mn, covering the FSRU, terminal buildout, LNG supply, and regasification \u2014 but port constraints will shape how much gas actually flows. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Berth selection wasn\u2019t random:<\/strong> Excelerate opted for jetties operated by Dubai\u2019s SKA International to avoid privately run berths linked to fuel smuggling by Iran-backed militias and exposure to US sanctions. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Cargo sourcing will start close to home:<\/strong> Excelerate is expected to lift initial volumes from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/logistics\/2025\/10\/15\/iraq-inks-preliminary-agreement-with-oman-qatar-for-lng-supply\" style=\"\">Qatar and Oman<\/a>, with Shell and Hartree also in the mix as potential suppliers. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Khor Al Zubair\u2019s narrow, shallow channel forces slow ramp-up:<\/strong> For at least the first six months, imports will be capped at 250 mcf\/d while dredging continues, well below Iraq\u2019s peak summer needs of 750 mcf\/d and the vessel\u2019s 500 mcf\/d advertised capacity \u2014 even 500 mcf\/d may be hard to reach at Khor Al Zubair, sources told Mees. A 40-km pipeline tying the port to the grid has been completed \u2014 but not yet tested. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Market watch<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Oil prices rose to a seven-month peak as markets weighed US-Iran talks and trade risks<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/oil-hovers-below-seven-month-high-traders-eye-usiran-talks-trade-policy-2026-02-24\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports.
