The company completed engineering <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/167d04c0-aec5-4659-bc95-ec809ebdade3\/masdar-finalizes-its-stake-acquisition-in-epge-solar\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">studies<\/a> for a dedicated SAF production plant in the UAE, with plans to import SAF in the short term and transition to full local production over time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>About the fuel:<\/strong> Lootah\u2019s SAF \u2014 produced from used cooking oil and waste-derived fats \u2014 meets the International Civil Aviation Organization\u2019s standard and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not the first venture: <\/strong>Lootah <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/uae\/en\/news\/story\/a4dc7677-8235-427d-a1b8-234fa688ee93\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed an agreement<\/a> with Malaysian counterpart FatHopes Energy to study the feasibility of establishing 200k sqm SAF feedstock aggregation storage terminal in Malaysia in 2023. The trial operations for the vehicles \u2014 developed by K2 subsidiary Autogo \u2014 were executed in Masdar City. The initiative will select 20 startups to participate in an event in New Delhi. Of those, five will receive incubation support to help them enter the UAE market, with Rakez set to provide full backing via a comprehensive package to one of the five.
