We also have the latest on the region\u2019s M&A moves and Egypt's SAF ambitions. Let\u2019s dive right in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a> <\/strong> <strong>#1-<\/strong><strong> Egypt\u2019s government is gearing up to set up a nationwide used <\/strong><strong>oil collection system to feed the country\u2019s first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant<\/strong>, a senior government source told EnterpriseAM. Under the decision that will soon be announced in the Official Gazette, the waste oil will be collected from 24 governorates and fed into a network of 30 collection and processing plants before sending everything off for conversion into SAF, the source added. The project is part of the plan to meet international aviation goals by introducing green jet fuel by 2030. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The collection network will feed a planned USD 530 mn SAF production complex in <\/strong><strong>Alexandria<\/strong>, which has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/8fd53fdc-ed59-4219-9f14-e3ab535b0640\/oil-ministry-gets-the-ball-rolling-on-usd-530-mn-sustainable-aviation-fuel-project\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">been set up by the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production Company<\/a>, which was set up by the Oil Ministry in November of last year. Five ministries are jointly overseeing the project and developing incentives and investment options, according to our source. Construction and financing arrangements are currently underway through several international entities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The launch of locally made SAF is now pencilled in for 2028<\/strong>, with a targeted 160k liters a year under the project\u2019s first phase, according to our source. The government had initially been targeting a 2025 launch for the 100 sq km plant <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/c849562a-fe0a-4834-bd58-a70afd76a754\/egypt-could-start-producing-sustainable-aviation-fuel-in-2025\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">as recently as last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Driving demand: <\/strong>EgyptAir\u2019s SAF targets will also drive demand, with the national flag carrier already aiming to have SAF represent a 2% share in its fuel mix this year, which can currently only be achieved through imports. Fast forward to 2030, and EgyptAir is looking to increase that further to 6%. The plant could also serve European markets, as the EU rolls out its ReFuelEU\u2019s aggressive targets, aiming for SAF to represent a 6% of the aviation fuel mix by 2030, 20% by 2025, 42% by 2045, and 70% by 2050. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <\/strong> <strong>#2- GulfNav wraps bond sale to fund Brooge M&A play: <\/strong>Maritime shipping company Gulf Navigation (GulfNav) closed its AED 500 mn mandatory convertible bond (MCB) issuance, which was oversubscribed by shareholders, it said in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2025\/7\/852.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">a filing (pdf)<\/a> to the Dubai bourse. This comes nearly one month after <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/9624c33c-b2a6-4102-b680-7fd6b9ff6a1f\/today:-hormuz-strait-closure-looms-%2B-roads-and-debt-updates-from-oman\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">subscriptions kicked off<\/a>. The fresh paper, which will be converted into equity by Wednesday, 29 October, will help fund the banknote portion of GulfNav\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/ba555746-bee3-4bcc-8a15-179569d82654\/%253cmark%253egulfnav%253c%2Fmark%253e-is-the-new-owner-of-nasdaq-listed-brooge-energy\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">AED 3.2 bn acquisition<\/a> of Nasdaq-listed Brooge Energy\u2019s Fujairah-based oil storage businesses. The notes were priced at AED 1.1 each. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The oversubscription signals solid shareholder backing for GulfNav\u2019s pivot beyond <\/strong><strong>maritime transport and into energy infrastructure. <\/strong>This is part of a broader cash-and-share swap that will eventually give Brooge shareholders a 63% stake in GulfNav, while handing the shipping company exposure to sectors that are more insulated from freight market cycles \u2014 namely oil storage and midstream logistics. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s next? <\/strong>The firm plans to settle the rest of the transaction through the issuance of 359 mn new shares at a discounted AED 1.25 a piece, and AED 2.3 bn worth of convertible bonds to Brooge converted at the same rate, both subject to one-year lockups, according to the bourse filing. No second tranche will be opened, given as the full amount was raised in the first round, with final allocations due Tuesday, 22 July. GulfNav\u2019s shares closed up 1.5% at AED 6.04 yesterday. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ADVISORS- <\/strong>Gulf Navigation appointed Truss Bridge Advisory (DIFC) as its exclusive financial advisor, and Pinsent Masons as its lead counsel. Emirates NBD was the lead receiving bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>#3- <\/strong><strong>Emirates Road gets AED 750 mn expansion: <\/strong>The Energy and Infrastructure Ministry has earmarked AED 750 mn to widen Emirates Road and improve traffic between the emirates, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wam.ae\/en\/article\/bkogqvc-ministry-energy-and-infrastructure-launches\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Wam<\/a> reports. Construction is set to begin this September and will take two years to complete. The development is expected to attract around USD 1 bn in investments and will be delivered over three years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The details<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> The 1.1 mn sqm zone in Sadat City \u2014 to be allocated by the General Authority for Industrial Development \u2014 will offer some ready-built units, a warehousing and logistics hub, and facility management and operational services. The zone will cater to a mix of industries including, engineering, medical, and food processing. In June, the budget airline said it anticipates slightly increased costs for fiscal year 2026.
