But first, an update on the never-ending Trump tariffs\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>THE BIG LOGISTICS STORY- Another day, another tariff: <\/strong>The US President Donald Trump has now said the US will hit Brazil with a 50% tariff \u2014 a large hike compared to the 10% reciprocal tariff announced earlier in April \u2014 in protest over what he calls a \u201cwitch hunt\u201d against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Trump \u2014 delivering the threat in a letter to Brazil \u2014 criticized the current trial and charges against Bolsonaro and demanded that he be allowed to run in the next election. The surge means that ins. Average now could hit as much as USD 1 mn per voyage, jumping up from the previous average of USD 300k. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>No sign of slowdown:<\/strong> Due to the quickly escalating nature of Houthi activity in the area, \u201cit is expected that these rates [will] move further upwards if shipping continues to use the corridor for transit,\u201d Baker added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ON A RELATED NOTE- <\/strong><strong>A <\/strong><strong>mission is underway to rescue <\/strong><strong>Eternity C<\/strong><strong>\u2019s crew after a series <\/strong><strong>of <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/edition\/logistics\/253d3b27-c72b-441b-a139-564d5c20ac37\/iraq-eyes-usd-400-600-mn-investments-for-baghdad-int%25e2%2580%2599l-airport-revamp\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Houthi attacks<\/a><\/strong><strong> led to the sinking of the ship on Wednesday, <\/strong>killing four of the 25 people aboard, two security sources told <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/maritime-security-firms-launch-mission-save-crew-greek-vessel-hit-by-houthis-2025-07-09\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>. The move is part of SCA\u2019s effort to reinvigorate the flow of oil tankers and dry-bulk vessels between Asia and Europe through the canal in a bid to restore lost revenues after over a year of instability.
