We also have updates on regional LNG trade, as well as DP World\u2019s push into Syria. Shall we?<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong><a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a>#1- Can the reduction in transit fees help boost traffic levels in the Suez Canal? <\/strong>The Suez Canal Authority <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/egypt\/en\/news\/story\/caf84919-971c-47b2-9905-5ed2c7f2a125\/%253cmark%253esuez-canal%253c%2Fmark%253e-introduces-15%2525-reduction-on-transit-fee\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> a 15% reduction on transit fees for container vessels in a bid to encourage major shipping lines to return to transiting through the canal, but some are skeptical the move will bear fruit. The move is not enough to incentivize shipping companies to return as security remains a main concern, Chairman of the Suez Chamber of Shipping Abdel Qader Gaballah told EnterpriseAM. With the current security risks, the premiums for ships going through Suez are far higher than the fee reductions, he added. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Shipping giants are still monitoring the situation: <\/strong>Sources from Maersk and other major shipping companies said that they are monitoring the situation and will only consider returning to the canal if security improves. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>REMEMBER-<\/strong> Some major shippers may also lack the financial incentive to accelerate their return to the Red Sea route. For example, Maersk <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/42853932-7918-48b0-9f10-7c296ca48749\/today:-avilease-to-order-20-boeings-%2B-uae-to-develop-kazakh-airport\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">forecasts a net income<\/a> of USD 3 bn if the route\u2019s disruption continues until the end of the year, whereas an earlier return to Red Sea \u2014 by the start of 2H \u2014 would leave the company barely breaking even.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a>#2- <\/strong><strong>Iraq <\/strong><strong>has completed the first section of the road links in the Development Road project<\/strong>, which includes part of a three-lane road for heavy trucks and cargo, the Iraqi <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Economy\/Iraq-s-Development-Road-4B-trade-corridor-finalized\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Shafa<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Economy\/Iraq-s-Development-Road-4B-trade-corridor-finalized\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">q News<\/a> reported on Saturday, citing a statement from Iraq\u2019s General Company for Ports. \u201cThe first section of the road stretches from Grand Al-Faw Port to the submerged tunnel, covering 51km, and then continues from the tunnel to the main Safwan road for an additional 11km, bringing the total length of this segment to 62 km,\u201d company director Farhan Al Fartousi told the news outlet. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ICYMI:<\/strong> Baghdad <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/8d9222d0-b7ab-4304-8b77-b3fda6b33fe7\/today:-us-tariffs-regional-impact-%2B-flynas-cleared-for-ipo\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">established a private company<\/a> to manage the Development Road project in April. Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/3744dd31-6545-4565-8e86-d0daf8ba5883\/today:-shifting-trade-patterns-could-spell-promise-%2B-regional-shipping-connectivity-falls-amid-disruptions\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">signed on to contribute<\/a> to the project last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>About the project:<\/strong> The Development Road aims to connect Iraq\u2019s Al Faw mega port \u2014 currently under construction \u2014 to Turkey via road and rail covering 1.2k km. The project is set to rival the Suez Canal route for cargo moving from Asian to European markets. The project is estimated to have an investment ticket of over USD 4 bn, Shafaq News reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"> <strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a>#3-<\/strong> <strong>Saudi real estate firm <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/al-otaishan.com.sa\/contact-us\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Otaishan Holding<\/a><\/strong><strong> is planning to develop a SAR 80 mn automated petrochemical <\/strong><strong>logistics warehouse in Al Jubail Industrial City<\/strong>, CEO Dhary Al Otaishan (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sa.linkedin.com\/in\/eng-dhary-alotaishan-%D9%85-%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%8A-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%B4%D8%A7%D9%86-182071b8\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a>) told EnterpriseAM during a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2025\/5\/1451.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">summit<\/a> held by Egypt\u2019s proptech platform Aqarmap.
