Let\u2019s dive right in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> <a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> #1- <\/strong><strong>Emirates President Tim Clark has slammed Boeing for its 777x <\/strong><strong>delivery delays<\/strong>, saying that his company plans to have \u201cserious conversations\u201d with the aircraft manufacturer in the coming months, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-10-14\/emirates-blasts-boeing-for-delays-plans-serious-conversations\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports. Boeing <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/7e89d397-ac81-42a9-a5cb-398f83a46c11\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">pushed back delivery dates<\/a> of its new 777x aircrafts earlier this week, with first delivery of its 777-9 airplane forecasted to be in 2026 and its 777-8 freighter aircraft in 2028. Delivery delays have been attributed to setbacks in flight testing for the individual aircraft models and a labor strike at the company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What they said:<\/strong> The UAE-based airline has \u201chad to make significant and highly expensive amendments to [its] fleet programmes as a result of Boeing\u2019s multiple contractual shortfalls,\u201d Clark said in a statement. \u201cI fail to see how Boeing can make any meaningful forecasts of delivery dates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Not a first:<\/strong> Clark predicted back <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/45ad90f3-fb15-4a4a-b9d5-2ca7028c1b91\/today:-oman%25e2%2580%2599s-asyad-expands-global-footprint-with-skybridge-acquistion\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">in July<\/a> that Boeing\u2019s 777X aircraft would not enter commercial services before 2026, and that he \u201cwould not take kindly\u201d to further delays caused by a growing backlog of orders. Emirates has not been shy in calling out Boeing for its shortfalls, with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/c71757f0-4b42-4dec-8de4-b79281b5decd\/today:-eagl-snaps-up-95%2525-of-ticts-%2B-ksa-launches-new-ring-road\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Clark expressing<\/a> that the airline was \u201cextremely exasperated\u201d with delivery delays from Boeing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>IN OTHER BOEING NEWS- <\/strong><strong>The <\/strong><strong>Boeing <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/36d8252c-567f-41fa-b06b-b15b084a8727\/%253cmark%253eboeing%253c%2Fmark%253e-withdraws-offer-as-union-talks-hit-another-stalemate\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">machinist strike<\/a><\/strong><strong> has cost the firm and workers USD 5 bn so far<\/strong><strong> as the strike <\/strong><strong>enters its fifth week<\/strong>, according to Anderson Economic Group analysis seen by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/13\/business\/boeing-strike-one-month-five-billion-dollars\/index.html\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>. Boeing\u2019s suppliers and shareholders are taking the brunt of the losses, losing some USD 3.7 bn so far. No planes have been worked on at the company's production facility in Washington since the workers went on strike \u2014 the first walk out at the company in 16 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> #2- <\/strong><strong>Saudi Arabia accepting bids for customs warehouse project: <\/strong>Saudi Arabia\u2019s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (Zatca) is accepting bids for the development and operation of customs warehouses at 38 points of entry (PoEs) across the Kingdom, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/investors.ncp.gov.sa\/home\/project\/details\/4e978513-90d5-434a-8616-ff7bdb3f7439\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. The project will see the construction of 12 new warehouses and the renovation of one. It also includes facility maintenance for the new warehouses, the supply of new equipment for both new and existing warehouses at the 38 PoEs , as well as logistics support and cleaning services for all these warehouses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#3- <\/strong><strong>Iran cuts back<\/strong><strong> on oil exports from Jask terminal: <\/strong>Iran has seemingly stopped or heavily cut back on crude oil exports from its single buoy mooring (SBM) off the Kooh Mobarak oil facility west of Bandar-e Jask terminal, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/maritime-executive.com\/article\/iran-cuts-oil-exports-from-its-jask-terminal\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Maritime Executive<\/a> reports. An Aframax or a VLCC tanker was seen moored at the buoy throughout September, but has not been sighted since 4 October. The Kooh Mobarak SBM is Iran's sole export point beyond the Gulf, bypassing the need to navigate through the Straits of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ICYMI<\/strong>- Iran said in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/0c29e193-b3d1-4b68-912e-09c14403493d\/iran%25e2%2580%2599s-roads-ministry-proposes-new-port-to-boost-maritime-economy\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">June 2023<\/a> that it wanted to establish a new port on the Gulf of Oman, with feasibility studies demarcating the boundaries for the new port and determining the viability of its proposed location at Kooh Mobarak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong> <a id=\"wwtt1\"><\/a> #4- Normal traffic returning to <\/strong><strong>Suez Canal could cause \u201coperational meltdown,\u201d <\/strong><strong>Maersk warns:<\/strong> Danish shipping giant Maersk has warned of a possible operational meltdown due to overcapacity and port congestion when shipping through the Suez Canal returns to its regular traffic levels, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theloadstar.com\/gemini-unveils-cape-network-and-warns-of-meltdown-when-suez-reopens\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Loadstar<\/a> reports, citing comments by CCO Karsten Kildahl. The moment traffic returns to normal, \u201cthe havoc is going to start, because you will have [many] vessels coming in at the same time \u2026 vessels that left Asia two weeks earlier will clash with vessels that leave Asia,\u201d Kildahl said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Cape of Good Hope network instead: <\/strong>Hapag-Lloyd would plan for \u201can orderly transition [to Suez Canal transits] to be executed as fast as circumstances allow,\u201d a company representative told The Loadstar, but added that \u201cmany currently unknown factors\u201d make it difficult to predict the timeline.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">MARKET WATCH- <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#1- <\/strong><strong>Oil prices dropped 3% <\/strong><strong>in early morning trading following a 2% drop yesterday as <\/strong><strong>news emerged that Israel would not strike at Iranian oil depots<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/oil-prices-drop-2-demand-concerns-israel-comments-2024-10-15\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reports. Brent crude futures lost USD 2.27 to trade at USD 75.19 per barrel by 01.27 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures shed USD 2.22 to trade at USD 71.60 per barrel. Oil prices have plunged by nearly USD 4 this week, almost eliminating cumulative gains in the previous seven sessions up to last Friday as investors wrestled with concern over disruptions to supply due to escalating regional tensions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Opec+<\/strong><strong> trims oil demand growth forecast: <\/strong>The group of oil-producing nations now sees global demand rising 2% y-o-y \u2014 or 1.9 mn bpd \u2014 in 2024 \u2014 that is 106k bpd less than September estimates, according to the group\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2024\/10\/1116.pdf\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">monthly oil market report (pdf)<\/a>. The outlook for 2025 shows an additional 249k bpd of consumption growth, primarily from Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with total regional demand projected to hit 9.1 mn bpd next year. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>KEEP AN EYE OUT TODAY for the IEA\u2019s October report<\/strong>, due out later this morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>#2- <\/strong><strong>Baltic index continues its comeback<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>The Baltic Exchange\u2019s dry bulk sea freight index \u2014 which tracks rates for the capesize, panamax, and supramax vessel segments \u2014 rose <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/commodity\/baltic\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">about 0.3% to 1,814 points<\/a> on Monday, buoyed by a bump in the larger segment. The capesize index was up 43 points to 1,814 points, while the panamax index fell 26 points to 1,409 points.
