The MUA however reportedly withdrew some work bans, and backed down from plans for eight-hour delays and bans on certain shipping lines, but will proceed with lower level stoppages. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The labor dispute has been ongoing for months, costing USD bns:<\/strong> Strikes have been ongoing since <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/daffe5e3-202d-4374-aeea-74a9bd1169cd\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">October 2023<\/a>, with DP World <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterprise.news\/logistics\/en\/news\/story\/2706e874-2635-4f81-8ca6-cfccdb478dd6\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">saying in a letter to customers<\/a> earlier this month that it would no longer tolerate work stoppages and would penalize participants. KSA\u2019s overall ports recorded a 9.01% increase over the same period to 11.4 mn TEUs handled. Mawani\u2019s ports saw a 16% y-o-y increase in exported containers to 2.6 mn TEU, while imported containers saw a 12.7% boost to 2.6 mn TEUs and transshipments bumped 9% to 3.2 mn TEUs, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Iraq\u2019s Umm Qasr Port witnessed an increase in containers handled to 1.4 mn TEU<\/strong><strong>in 2023<\/strong>, up from 1.1 mn TEU the previous year, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/motrans.gov.iq\/?article=1502\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. The total volume of cargo unloaded also experienced a rise to 12.4 mn tons of goods from 9.4k tons.
