agreement for the construction of six<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\"> strategic warehouses for medical supplies.<\/span><span>On the aviation side of things, several airlines are looking at acquiring new aircrafts to expand their fleet, including <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">Saudi Arabia\u2019s Riyadh Air, Emirates and Air Arabia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"\"> <a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">WATCH THIS SPACE- Saudi Arabia looks to boost air-sea <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">logistics connectivity through new agreement: <\/span><span>The Saudi Ports Authority (<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mawani.gov.sa\/\" style=\"\">Mawani<\/a><\/span><span>), the General Authority of Civil Aviation (<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gaca.gov.sa\/web\/en-gb\/page\/home\" style=\"\">GACA<\/a><\/span><span>), and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (<\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/zatca.gov.sa\/en\/pages\/default.aspx\" style=\"\">ZATCA<\/a><\/span><span>) have agreed to \u201cenhance air and sea logistics connectivity\u201d in Saudi Arabia, according to a <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mawani.gov.sa\/article?news=060623\" style=\"\">statement<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">. The three-party agreement aims to improve the country\u2019s customs services and logistics operations, and integrate freight operations at air and sea terminals, as well as identify and address challenges in cargo transportation through simulations. The statement does not specify how these goals will be achieved. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"\"> <a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight:700\">IATA releases roadmaps for net zero by 2050: <\/span><span style=\"\">The International Air Transport <\/span><span>Association (IATA) has disclosed a series of \u201cstep-by-step\u201d <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iata.org\/en\/programs\/environment\/roadmaps\/\" style=\"\">roadmaps<\/a><\/span><span> for the global aviation sector to achieve net zero by 2050, according to a <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iata.org\/en\/pressroom\/2023-releases\/2023-06-04-03\/\" style=\"\">press release<\/a><\/span><span>. The frameworks assume a holistic approach to the industry with recommendations covering aspects of tech, energy, infrastructure, operations, finance, and policy. The roadmaps underwent peer-to-peer review and are informed by emission reductions models sourced from the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration-skip-ink:none;-webkit-text-decoration-skip:none;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.atslab.org\/\" style=\"\">Air Transportation Systems Laboratory at University College London (UCL)<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">, according to the release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><span style=\"font-weight:700\">The roadmaps are \u201cnot just for airlines,\u201d but for all stakeholders in the industry:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight:400;\"> \u201cThe roadmaps are the first detailed assessment of the key steps necessary to accelerate the transition to net zero by 2050. Together, they show a clear direction and will evolve as we dig deeper to set interim milestones on the way to net zero,\u201d said IATA Director General Willie Walsh. \u201cI must emphasize that the roadmaps are not just for airlines. Governments, suppliers, and financiers cannot be spectators in aviation\u2019s decarbonization journey. They have skin in the game. The pilot program looks to remove 30k tonnes of CO2 emissions from clients\u2019 supply chains by the end of 2025 by switching out road shipments for rail. The Modal Shift Programme involves a 12-month trial that will see clients receiving import shipments at DP World\u2019s Southampton terminal charged a flat GBP 10 fee per container.
