Good morning, ladies and gents, and happy THURSDAY<\/strong>. Flynas finally made its long-anticipated debut on Tadawul, but the first-day performance left something to be desired after the price slipped more than 3%.<\/p>\n

Also in today\u2019s news well: <\/strong>SNB closed its tier 2 debt issuance, reportedly its biggest ever, while IsDB priced a five-year sukuk issuance. We also have the details on Saudi\u2019s big-ticket Expo 2030, and Darwinz AI\u2019s first institutional funding round.<\/p>\n

AND- The US Federal Reserve held its benchmark rates unchanged at 4.25-4.50% for the <\/strong>fourth straight meeting<\/strong>. We still haven\u2019t heard from Sama, but the decision is almost certain to be in line with the Fed.<\/p>\n

\n

WEATHER-<\/strong> Riyadh<\/strong> is expected to see a high of 44\u00b0C and a low of 30\u00b0C today, while Jeddah<\/strong>\u2019s mercury will go as high as 35\u00b0C and as low as 26\u00b0C. Makkah<\/strong> will see a 43\u00b0C high and 32\u00b0C low.<\/p>\n

HAPPENING NEXT WEEK-<\/p>\n

Real estate <\/strong>m<\/strong>arketing firm <\/strong>Hawyia<\/a><\/strong>Auctions<\/a><\/strong> will ring the opening bell on the Nomu <\/strong>parallel market next Sunday, 22 June<\/strong>, according to a disclosure to Tadawul<\/a>. The company\u2019s shares will be allowed to trade within a 30% price fluctuation cap and a static 10% band over the first three sessions, followed by a 10% daily circuit breaker.<\/p>\n

REFRESHER- <\/strong>Hawyia is talking 2.4 mn shares \u2014 a 12% stake<\/a> \u2014 to market at SAR 13 apiece, in a secondary offering that was 310% covered<\/a>. The company\u2019s three selling shareholders will rake in some SAR 31.2 mn in net proceeds, implying a market cap of SAR 260 mn at listing.<\/p>\n

The listing comes amid a wave of <\/strong>underwhelming Nomu debuts<\/a><\/strong>, with many recent entrants struggling to hold above-IPO price.<\/p>\n

PSAs- <\/p>\n

Regis<\/strong>tr<\/strong>ation for Electrathon 2025 is now open on <\/strong>the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority <\/strong>website<\/a><\/strong> until 25 June<\/strong>, state news agency SPA<\/a> reported on Tuesday. The event will be held in Riyadh between 10-12 July, getting participants to meet with experts as they look into boosting electricity innovation through consumer experience, integrating renewable energy, and improving the efficiency of operations from generation to distribution.<\/p>\n

WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n

<\/a> #1- <\/strong>100 skies for Riya<\/strong>dh Air by 2030: <\/strong>PIF-backed Riyadh Air is planning to serve 100 cities by 2030, aiming to add a destination every two months once it's operational, CEO Tony Douglas told Bloomberg<\/a> at the 2025 Paris Airshow. The carrier has snapped up the necessary landing slots for its first destinations, Douglas added, and is set to announce its first route and ticket sale mechanism<\/a> in the upcoming months.<\/p>\n

What's the holdup?<\/strong> Our newest carrier has pushed back its launch<\/a> to 3Q 2025 from earlier this year after facing delays in Boeing aircraft deliveries, and is planning to launch service once Boeing hands over the first two planes from the four Boeing 787 Dreamliners<\/a> currently undergoing assembly, Douglas explained. The airline requires two aircraft for each new destination to manage the back-and-forth routes.<\/p>\n

ICYMI:<\/strong> Riyadh Air locked in an order<\/a> for up to 50 Airbus aircraft during the show earlier this week.<\/p>\n

AND- Another airliner on the PIF\u2019s radar is making moves: <\/strong>Asia\u2019s largest budget carrier AirAsia is in talks with Airbus to acquire 50 to 70 A321 jets in the next one to three months, CEO Tony Fernandes told Reuters<\/a>. The Malaysia-based airline also plans to tap either Airbus or Embraer for some 100 smaller model jets.<\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>PIF was seeking a USD 100 mn<\/a> investment in AirAsia back in March, making it the largest contributor to the carrier\u2019s USD 226 mn fundraising target. However, the investment hasn\u2019t been locked in yet. \u201cAs soon as we get the consent letters and the Thai Stock Exchange we will announce who the new capital is,\u201d Fernandes told Reuters.<\/p>\n

The new order could solidify Saudi interest:<\/strong> A key draw for the PIF\u2019s investment is AirAsia\u2019s backlog of over 350 Airbus narrowbody aircraft. PIF\u2019s Riyadh Air secured part of these delivery slots \u2014 easing the Malaysian airline\u2019s financing burdens while providing Riyadh Air with planes needed for its 3Q 2025<\/a> launch. Riyadh Air chose the slots instead of purchasing 100 Boeing 737 jets.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a> #2- <\/strong>The Kingdom\u2019s GDP growth is expected to come in at 3.6% this year,<\/strong> up from 1.3% last year, driven by Opec+\u2019s oil production hikes, Emirates NBD wrote in a research note (pdf)<\/a>. Oil growth is expected to come in at 3.5% in 2025, down from 4.5% in 2024, while non-oil growth is expected to accelerate to 4.5%, from 4.3% last year.<\/p>\n

Current account deficit is expected to widen to 3.9% of GDP this year,<\/strong> in what would mark the largest deficit in a decade, attributed to lower expected oil prices and high levels of imports. However, the current account deficit is expected to narrow to 2.5% as oil production increases. Lower oil prices are also expected to cause the Kingdom\u2019s budget deficit to widen to 5.9% of GDP this year, from 2.8% in 2024, before narrowing to 4% of GDP next year. <\/p>\n

As for inflation,<\/strong> the Kingdom\u2019s headline reading is expected to average 2% this year, from 1.7% in 2024, the bank said.<\/p>\n

Somewhat in line with other forecasts:<\/strong> The IMF recently cut its inflation forecasts to 2% for both 2025 and 2026, while Capital Economics expects<\/a> inflation to hover around 2-2.5% this year, before slowing to 2% in 2026. Riyad Capital is more optimistic, expecting inflation to rise to 2.5% in 2025, before easing slightly to 2.3% in 2026.<\/p>\n

BUT- <\/strong>Most of these forecasts were published before the recent Iran-Israel escalation, and are likely to be updated by analysts down the road as the trajectory of the conflict starts to take shape.<\/p>\n

<\/a> #3- Three Nomu listings get the green light: <\/strong>The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) approved three new IPOs to hit the parallel market, according to separate statements. Quality Education<\/a> will take a 20% stake to Nomu, good for 2.5 mn shares, while Sahat Almajd<\/a> will offer an 11.1% stake (4.4 mn shares) and Zahr Al Khuzama Aluminum<\/a> is to list a 20% stake (300k shares).<\/p>\n

DATA POINTS-<\/p>\n

The Industry and Mineral Resources Ministry processed 877 <\/strong>industrial customs <\/strong>exemption requests in May<\/strong>, it said on X<\/a>. The requests covered 3.1k raw material items and 12.9k machinery, equipment, and spare items.<\/p>\n

On day six of the war between Israel and Iran, concern is rising that the US is preparing <\/strong>to join the war.<\/strong> Adding to the speculation, US President Donald Trump said that he had not made a final decision on whether he will strike the country, telling reporters, \u201cI may do it, I may not.\u201d Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made his first appearance since Friday to respond to an increasingly hawkish Trump, warning the US president that their involvement in the conflict would \u201cundoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable damage.\u201d (Financial Times<\/a> | Associated Press<\/a> | New York Times<\/a>)<\/p>\n

While over in the business press, all eyes were on the US Federal Reserve<\/strong>, which decided to hold interest rates steady for the fourth meeting running despite increasing pressure from the Trump administration to change course. Chair Jerome Powell doubled down on the reserve\u2019s position that they will wait to assess the full impact of the tariffs on US imports before \u201cconsidering any adjustments to our policy stance.\u201d Despite the decision to hold, the Fed still sees two interest rates to come before the end of year.
