No investment ticket was disclosed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>The rationale: <\/strong>The Bagamoyo Port will serve as the main port to export African raw materials and import goods into Africa, helping to ease congestion in Tanzania\u2019s main port at Dar es Salaam and position Bagamoyo as a trade hub. The move is also in line with the Kingdom\u2019s East Gateway project, which aims to help diversify our foreign investments and projects across East Africa. <\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Outmatching China: <\/strong>Tanzania was originally planning a USD 11 bn project in 2015 with China Merchant Holding International to make Bagamoyo the country\u2019s biggest port, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/tanzania-ports-bagamoyo\/rpt-tanzania-dreams-big-with-port-project-at-former-slave-harbour-idINL5N0WF33D20150316\/\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported at the time.
