HAPPENING TODAY- <\/p>\n

<\/a> Joint Arab-Islamic summit begins today:<\/strong> Ministerial meetings kicked off yesterday in Riyadh, laying the groundwork for today\u2019s Joint Arab-Islamic summit, state news agency SPA<\/a> reports. The event will gather leaders from the Arab League Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation\u2019s member states with a focus on resolving the ongoing wars in Gaza and Lebanon. Speaking to Asharq Al Awsat, Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaye Al Zindani \u2014 whose country chairs the Arab League \u2014 said the summit aims to create a unified front that could potentially influence the UN Security Council and press Israel to adhere to international resolutions. <\/p>\n

While specific attendance lists are not publicly available, it is anticipated that most, if not<\/strong> all, member <\/strong>states of the Arab League and OIC will be represented<\/strong> at the gathering. Pakistani Prime Minister<\/a> Shehbaz Sharif, Lebanon's Prime Minister<\/a> Najib Mikati, Bahrain\u2019s Justice Minister<\/a> Nawaf Al Maawda, and Nigerian President<\/a> Bola Tinbu, among others, have confirmed their attendance. <\/p>\n

A Yemeni Defense Ministry employee attacked Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen, <\/strong>killing two and injuring another<\/strong>, according to a statement by coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki carried by state news agency SPA<\/a>. The incident occurred during a training session at a coalition base in Seiyun. Al Maliki emphasized that this was a \u201clone wolf\u201d attack, and that the perpetrator's actions are not representative of Yemen\u2019s Defense Ministry, which coordinates with coalition forces. The story got ink from Reuters<\/a> and the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What happens now?<\/strong> Saudi\u2019s Joint Forces Command and Yemen\u2019s Defense Ministry are coordinating efforts to arrest the perpetrator and uncover the motives for the attack, while the two deceased and one injured servicemen were repatriated to Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n
