WATCH THIS SPACE-<\/p>\n

#1- Brazil\u2019s status as an industrial powerhouse plays well with Saudi\u2019s plans to develop <\/strong>12 <\/strong>industrial <\/strong>subsectors<\/strong> under its national industry strategy<\/strong>, Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar Al Khorayef told Asharq Business (watch, runtime: 5:07<\/a>). \u201cBrazil is a [major] industrial country with a pioneering experience. It was able to develop multiple industries over the past two decades and venture into new and successful experiences. The visit aims to explore shared [potential] between the two countries,\u201d Al Khorayef, who is kicking off a weeklong visit to Brazil and Chile, said.<\/p>\n

The Kingdom is banking on its nascent EV manufacturing industry<\/strong> amid a global transition to clean and renewable energy, Al Khorayef said. \u201cDespite EV manufacturing being new to us, we still aim to manufacture 300k-350k vehicles annually. This primarily requires a focus on EV battery manufacturing with Saudi qualified to host investments and industries focused on supply chain for the batteries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

IN CONTEXT- <\/strong>Al Khorayef is leading a delegation that is currently in Brazil<\/a> and will head to Chile later this week to look at potential investments in mining and manufacturing. The delegation will meet with government officials as well as execs from top mining, aviation and food companies \u2014 including Vale, Minerva Foods, JBS, BRF SA, Codelco, Antofagasta, and others \u2014 in both countries. The delegation\u2019s trip to South America wraps up on Tuesday, 30 July.<\/p>\n

REMEMBER- <\/strong>Saudi\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop the industry is making it turn to Chile, which is the world\u2019s second-largest producer of lithium. Al Khorayef said in April<\/a> that Saudi will continue to source lithium from abroad as part of its plans for the emerging EV sector as securing domestic supplies were still at an early stage.<\/p>\n

\n

<\/a> #2- We have an estimate on the value of the three renewable energy joint ventures the <\/strong>Public Investment Fund <\/strong>signed last week<\/a><\/strong> with major Chinese players: <\/strong>The agreements to localize the manufacturing of a number of wind and solar power generation components is worth over USD 3 bn, according to a statement<\/a> from British law firm Mishcon de Reya, which represented local and privately owned renewable energy firm Vision Industries in the agreements.<\/p>\n

REFRESHER- <\/strong>The PIF\u2019s wholly-owned subsidiary Renewable Energy Localization Company (Relc) and Vision Industries signed with China\u2019s second-largest wind turbine manufacturer, Envision Energy; solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar; and Lumetech, a subsidiary of China\u2019s TCL Zhonghuan Renewable Energy.<\/p>\n

SPORTS-<\/p>\n

<\/a> FROM THE RUMOR MILL- <\/strong>Boca <\/strong>Juniors\u2019 Ezequiel Fern\u00e1ndez may soon join Al Qadsiah, <\/strong>according to<\/a> sports journalist C\u00e9sar Luis Merlo. The newly promoted team reportedly raised their offer to USD 17.5 mn \u2014 higher than the 22-year old Argentian midfielder\u2019s USD 15 mn exit clause.<\/p>\n

A busy preseason: <\/strong>The Aramco-owned club secured last week<\/a> Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang\u2019s signing from Marseille, tying down the former Arsenal, Dortmund, and Barcelona player to a contract that runs until 2026.<\/p>\n

HAPPENING TOMORROW-<\/p>\n

<\/a> Shares of Al Ashghal <\/strong>Almoysra<\/strong> will start trading on parallel market Nomu tomorrow<\/strong>, according to a Tadawul statement<\/a>. The local contractor\u2019s offering of a 20% stake<\/a> was oversubscribed as it priced its IPO at the top range<\/a> of SAR 50 per share.<\/p>\n

What to expect:<\/strong> Shares will be allowed to trade within a \u00b130% band in daily price fluctuation limits and a \u00b110% band in static price fluctuation limits.<\/p>\n

WEATHER- <\/strong>Riyadh will see a daytime high of 46\u00b0C and low of 31\u00b0C today. It\u2019s almost as hot in Makkah, where the mercury will peak at 45\u00b0C during the day before dropping to 33\u00b0C at night. Meanwhile, Jeddah will see a high of 43\u00b0C and a low of 31\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Hollywood celebrities are also rallying around<\/a> Harris and donating to the campaign \u2014 and Charli XCX seemingly triggered a viral meme campaign after tweeting that Harris \u201cIS brat.\u201d The campaign is leaning into it in a bid to attract Gen Z votes. <\/p>\n

The sitting vice president aims to lock-in the delegates she needs to secure her <\/strong>nomination by tomorrow evening<\/strong>, Reuters<\/a> reports. The Democratic National Committee has agreed<\/a> to hold a virtual roll call to choose their nominee by Wednesday, 7 August. The formal convention will start on Monday, 19 August<\/p>\n

#1- The ripple effects of the global tech outage on Friday could last weeks<\/strong>, experts say<\/a>, as flights continue to face delays across the world and healthcare services face ongoing snarls. <\/p>\n

#2- The US Securities and Exchange Commission approved the launch of ether ETFs <\/strong>six months after the successful launch of BTC ETFs, with trading expecting to kick off today, CNBC<\/a> reports. The ETFs could attract some USD 15 bn to market in its first year and a half, analysts expect. <\/p>\n

<\/a> #3- Google is scrapping long-standing plans to replace third-party cookies<\/strong> \u2014 long used by advertisers \u2014 after receiving feedback that the transition would be disruptive and would impact all online publishers.
