The two biggest stories on Planet Finance this morning are out of Saudi Arabia:<\/strong> Aramco\u2019s blockbuster USD 12 bn share sale sold out in hours \u2014 and Opec+ has said it will start phasing voluntary oil production cuts later this year. Other stories making the rounds <\/strong>on an otherwise quiet(ish) news morning:<\/p>\n

#1- <\/strong>EMs fall short in 1Q earnin<\/strong>g results:<\/strong> Nearly half of the companies in the MSCI Emerging Market Index missed analyst expectations with their 1Q 2024 results. Blame China\u2019s slow economic recovery, rising wage costs and other expenses, sluggish consumer spending, and tighter monetary policy, Bloomberg<\/a> writes. <\/p>\n

How bad is it? MSCI EM companies\u2019 average profits are down 10% quarter-on-quarter<\/strong>, marking eight \u201cquarters of misses\u201d for the average EM company, writes the outlet, according to its reading of MSCI index and earning estimates. <\/p>\n

The worst performers: <\/strong>Industrial companies, financial institutions, tech firms, and real estate developers. <\/p>\n

#2- Are Elon and Jamie Dimon besties again? <\/strong>That\u2019s the Wall Street Journal<\/a> \u2019s contention, noting that the Tesla \/ X boss and JPMorgan chief \u201cspoke at an exclusive JPMorgan summit, opening the door to their working together again\u201d after \u201cyears of feuding.\u201d<\/p>\n

#3- Chipmaker Nvidia looks set to surpass Apple in market value to become the world\u2019s <\/strong>second-most valuable company<\/strong> behind tech giant Microsoft. Nvidia\u2019s stock has tripled in value over the past year, and accounted for more than a third of the S&P 500\u2019s gains in 2024. (Reuters<\/a>)<\/p>\n

THE CLOSING BELL: NOMU-<\/p>\n

The NomuC<\/strong> fell 1.9% yesterday <\/strong>on turnover of SAR 68.8 mn. The index is up 6.5% YTD.<\/p>\n

In the green:<\/strong> Group Five (+10.8%), Riyadh Steel (+5%) and WSM (+3.7%).<\/p>\n

In the red:<\/strong> Knowledgenet (-9.4%), Alrasheed (-8.3%) and Miral (-7.9%)<\/p>\n

CORPORATE ACTIONS-<\/p>\n

The board of Nomu-listed <\/strong>AlBabtain Food<\/a><\/strong> approved SAR 1.7 mn in dividends <\/strong>at SAR 0.5<\/strong> per share for 1H 2023<\/strong>, according to a disclosure to Tadawul<\/a>. Dividends will be distributed Wednesday, 12 June 2024.<\/p>\n

Yanbu National Petrochemical\u2019s board approved a dividend of SAR 562.5 mn at SAR 1<\/strong> per share for 1H 2024<\/strong>, it said in a disclosure to Tadawul<\/a>. These are set to be distributed by 20 August 2024. <\/p>\n

Shareholders of Seera Group Holding agreed to buy back up to 26.4<\/strong> mn ordinary shares<\/strong>, after the company\u2019s board said the stock is undervalued, it said in a filing to Tadawul<\/a>.
