VLCC earnings are also at their highest in years as geopolitical risk adds a premium, with traders bracing for any disruption tied to US-Iran tension and oil flows via Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong> Saudi plans to ship some 8 mn barrels of crude to China next month, after reducing prices to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/ksa\/2026\/02\/08\/this-morning-ronaldo-no-shows-for-his-second-straight-game-with-al-nassr\/\" style=\"\">five-year lows<\/a> \u2014 and the freight market is already front-running it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>OIL + GAS \u2014 Saudi Arabia is quietly boosting output and shipments just in case a potential <\/strong><strong>US strike on Iran disrupts flows from the Middle East<\/strong>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/saudi-arabia-boosts-oil-output-exports-us-attack-iran-contingency-sources-say-2026-02-25\/\" style=\"\">Reuters<\/a> reports, citing two sources it says are familiar with the matter. The Kingdom is preemptively raising output now so that if regional flows are suddenly cut, the world isn\u2019t left scrambling. If the dust settles and diplomacy wins out, the taps will be tightened again to stay in line with Opec+ quotas, one of the sources said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Crude exports are expected to hit a three-year peak this <\/strong><strong>month<\/strong>, having reached 7.3 mn bbl \/ d so far, according to data compiled by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-02-25\/saudi-oil-exports-surge-to-three-year-high-amid-iran-tensions\" style=\"\">Bloomberg<\/a>. Should the trend prevail for the rest of the month, that would amount to a m-o-m increase of just over 400k bbl \/ d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>It\u2019s a move we\u2019ve seen before: <\/strong>Last year, Riyadh boosted exports by some 0.5 mn bbl \/ d and redirected crude to overseas storage when Washington first turned up the heat on Tehran\u2019s nuclear sites. US President Trump hasn\u2019t been shy about the possibility of a strike to force Iran put its nuclear ambitions to rest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>Why the nerves? <\/strong>Iran isn\u2019t a small player \u2014 it handles over 3% of global supply. But the real pinch is the Strait of Hormuz. If Tehran decides to retaliate by choking off that narrow passage, it would block 20 mn bbl \/ d from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar from reaching the global market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<hr style=\"height:2px;border-width:0;color:gray;background-color:gray\">\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>ENERGY \u2014 <\/strong><strong>Aramco <\/strong><strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/aramco-halts-juaymah-lpg-exports-after-propane-butane-delivery-system-damage-2026-02-25\/\" style=\"\">suspended LPG exports<\/a><\/strong><strong> from its Juaymah terminal <\/strong><strong>this week<\/strong>, following structural damage to its propane and butane delivery infrastructure. Aramco canceled all propane and butane deliveries out of Juaymah for the next several weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\">\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Data point<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1.15;orphans:2;widows:2;text-align:left\"><strong>SAR 13.9 <\/strong><strong>bn \u2014 that\u2019s the total value of consumer spending via point of sale (PoS) <\/strong><strong>in <\/strong><strong>the Kingdom in the week ending 21 February<\/strong>, dropping 9.3% from the previous week, according to Saudi Central Bank <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/2\/1526.pdf\" style=\"\">data (pdf)<\/a>. The number of transactions also dipped, falling 12.5% to 220.6 mn.
