The posturing aims to \u201cstrengthen joint defense cooperation and support regional and international security and stability,\u201d with an unnamed Pakistani official telling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/saudi-arabia-says-pakistan-sends-fighter-jets-kingdom-under-defence-pact-2026-04-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> the forces are \u201cnot there to attack anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.1500000000000001;text-align: left\"><strong>Still, the timing raises concerns:<\/strong> US-Iran negotiations started in Islamabad yesterday amid a fragile ceasefire before coming to a close in the early hours of the morning. Despite earlier reports of the two sides agreeing to exchange documents and revisit the negotiations table later today \u201cdespite some remaining differences,\u201d US Vice President JD Vance \u2014 who led the talks \u2014 has left Pakistan, leaving the future of the negotiations up in the air.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>The sticking points: <\/strong>Tehran is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/us-iran-talks-pause-now-disagreements-remain-2026-04-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly aiming<\/a> to secure control over the Strait of Hormuz, the release of frozen assets, war reparations, and a ceasefire for Lebanon. The Trump administration is seeking to resume shipping through the waterway and an end to Iran\u2019s enrichment of uranium.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.1500000000000001;text-align: left\"><strong>Iranian attacks on GCC countries virtually stopped<\/strong>, but not before delivering a hit to our East-West pipeline responsible for rerouting oil shipments away from the closed strait. We have the details in today\u2019s big story, below.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 2px;border-width: 0;color: gray;background-color: gray\" \/>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>WEATHER- Storms keep rolling: <\/strong>Heavy thunderstorms are still hanging overhead in Jazan, Asir, and Al Baha with showers also expected across Najran, Makkah, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders. Meanwhile, Al-Jawf and Tabuk are in for windy weather, kicking up dust that cuts visibility to near zero.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Riyadh: 31\u00b0C high \/ 22\u00b0C low;<\/li>\n<li>Jeddah: 31\u00b0C high \/ 21\u00b0C low;<\/li>\n<li>Makkah: 34\u00b0C high \/ 22\u00b0C low;<\/li>\n<li>Dammam: 30\u00b0C high \/ 22\u00b0C low.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr style=\"height: 2px;border-width: 0;color: gray;background-color: gray\" \/>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>Some schools are going remote:<\/strong> Heavy rains have prompted schools across a number of cities to shift to online learning today. Some universities have also suspended in-person learning, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spa.gov.sa\/N2557667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taif University<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spa.gov.sa\/N2557665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/spokesman_kfu\/status\/2043027041776173104\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Faisal University<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BahaUniversity\/status\/2043047155032564159\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Baha University<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spa.gov.sa\/N2557663\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Khalid University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Watch this space<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><a id=\"wwtt2\"><\/a> <strong>AVIATION \u2014<\/strong> <strong>The ceasefire is starting to ease pressure on <\/strong><strong>regional skies, with flights gradually coming back online in Saudi and beyond.<\/strong> Saudia <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Saudi_Airlines\/status\/2042325617220219218\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resumed services<\/a> to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman on Saturday, while Flynas is <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/flynas\/status\/2042655001256825193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bringing back<\/a> its Dubai flights today, and rolling out a Riyadh-Qaisumah route but keeping several international suspensions in place until 15 April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>The Kingdom is also absorbing spillover traffic<\/strong>, as Dammam and Qaisumah airports handle rerouted traffic from closed markets like Kuwait, <a href=\"https:\/\/asharqbusiness.com\/companies\/127808\/%D8%AD%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B7%D9%8A%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%88%D8%B3%D8%B7-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%87%D8%AF%D9%86%D8%A9-%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%85-10-%D8%A3%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%84\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Asharq Business<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>The region\u2019s airlines are adapting unevenly to the truce:<\/strong> Some markets are reopening \u2014 such as Iraq, and Syria \u2014 while others lag. Kuwait\u2019s airspace is still shut, forcing airlines to reroute via Saudi airports, and Dubai has capped foreign carriers at one daily flight through May.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><strong>MEANWHILE- European regulators are keeping a lid on a full recovery<\/strong>. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/en\/domains\/air-operations\/czibs\/2026-03-r6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pushed its guidance to avoid Middle East airspace out to 24 April<\/a> (from 10 April), signaling a cautious stance that\u2019s slowing the return of European carriers. Until that advisory is lifted, foreign traffic \u2014 especially from Europe \u2014 is unlikely to rebound to pre-conflict levels, capping regional connectivity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tag-border-left\">Data point<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding: 0;margin: 0;line-height: 1.15;text-align: left\"><a id=\"wwtt3\"><\/a> <strong>52.1 points \u2014 that\u2019s where the Kingdom\u2019s <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/4\/518.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Confidence Index (BCI)<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ent.news\/2026\/4\/518.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(pdf)<\/a><\/strong><strong> stood in March<\/strong>, dropping 14.2% m-o-m from 60.7 in February, and sitting just above the 50-point neutral level.
